Ch 4: The Malevolent Monster Just Wants To Farm Aug 11 2024August 11, 2024 Fortunately, that joy has now returned. Jiang Lin eagerly eyed the wild pheasant, estimating that it was just about ready. Without even caring about the heat, he quickly tore off a drumstick. Luckily, this body was that of a demon, so it wasnât afraid of being burned. The drumstick before him had a perfectly roasted, golden-brown skin. Beneath the crispy exterior was tender, juicy meat, with golden oil slowly dripping down. Jiang Lin took a bite and closed his eyes in bliss. To be honest, his cooking skills werenât that great. But his control over the fire with spiritual power was perfect, the seasoning was just right, and most importantly, this wild pheasant from White Tiger Ridge was incredibly tender and succulentâfar superior to the takeout chicken he remembered from his previous life. Gulp. The cat demon couldnât help but swallow. The way the king ate was extremely elegant, yet his speed was astonishing. In what seemed like the blink of an eye, both of the plump pheasant drumsticks had vanished. By this time, she had quietly crept down from the tree to the edge of the fire. The fire had mostly burned out, leaving only a few embers and glowing charcoal. After cautiously checking that there was no significant threat, she refocused her attention on Jiang Lin⌠or rather, the roast chicken in his hands. How strange. Just a moment ago, she had thought the king looked so handsome, but now, she couldnât care less about his appearance. She desperately wanted, more than anything, to taste that roast chicken. After devouring the two large drumsticks at breakneck speed, Jiang Lin finally became aware of his surroundings. He immediately noticed the cat demon gazing at him longingly. The little catâs claws were digging into the ground, leaving deep scratch marks, while her big, round cat eyes were fixed on him without blinking. Jiang Lin was all too familiar with that look. Suddenly, he felt a bit ashamed. Come to think of it, this wild pheasant was caught by the little cat demon. He had been so focused on eating that he hadnât realized how much he was tempting the poor kid. Jiang Lin considered that, since the cat demon had already become a demon, she should be able to eat this food. He asked, “Do you want to eat?” The cat demonâs eyes lit up as she nodded eagerly. Jiang Lin tore off a large wing for her. The cat demon eagerly reached out to grab it, only to be gently but firmly swatted by a branch. “Meow!” She looked at Jiang Lin with a bit of grievance, her big golden eyes full of confusion, and her ears stood up straight. She looked somewhat adorable, the system silently thought. However, its host was a rather emotionless one. Jiang Lin, completely unmoved by the little cat’s pitiful expression, sternly said, “Wash your hands first before eating.” The cat demon didnât quite understand why she needed to wash her hands, but since Jiang Lin said so, she instinctively started to lick her hands with her tongue. Jiang Lin: “⌔ He quickly stopped the cat demon and used a spell to conjure some clean water nearby. “Hold out your hands,” he ordered, frowning. The little cat obediently held out her hands. The clear water flowed over her hands, washing them clean. “From now on, you should wash your hands like this, understood?” Jiang Lin instructed. “Don’t lick them with your tongueâit’s not sanitary.” The cat demon nodded, half-understanding. Only then did Jiang Lin hand her the chicken wing. The cat demon eagerly took a big bite. Jiang Lin waited with some anticipation for her reaction. Three seconds later. “Ah-choo!” The sound of a heart-wrenching cough echoed through the forest, startling a flock of birds into flight. âI miscalculated,â Jiang Lin said as he found a clean bowl and filled it with water for the cat demon to drink. He added, âYouâve never eaten chili before, so you probably canât handle the spiciness.â The cat demonâs tongue was burning, one hand still holding the chicken wing while the other clutched the bowl as she gulped down the water. After finishing the bowl of water, she finally felt some relief, though her tongue was still tingling and felt swollen. The cat demon stuck out her tongue and tried to look down at it, wondering if it was really swollen. Jiang Lin almost wanted to laugh. âStop looking; your tongue is still there and not swollen. Youâre just not used to chili and got burned by the spice.â As he leisurely tore off another piece of chicken and ate it, he continued, âToo bad, you probably canât handle this deliciousness for now.â Unexpectedly, upon hearing this, the cat demon immediately tightened her grip on the chicken wing. âI⌠I want to eat it,â she insisted. Jiang Lin was surprised. âArenât you afraid of the spice?â The cat demon thought for a moment and then honestly nodded. âIs that feeling called spicy? Iâm a little scared, but this wild chicken wing is so delicious.â She patted her belly. âIâve never eaten anything this tasty before!â With that, she carefully took another small bite. This time, she was prepared, and although it still made her gasp from the spiciness, she managed to endure it. It was as if a whole new world had opened up to her! Jiang Lin watched in shock as the cat demon used magic to conjure water for herself while continuing to devour the spicy chicken wing. âThis is the power of a true foodie,â he murmured in amazement, then said to the system, âDid you see that, system? Nothing can stand in the way of someoneâs love for good food.â The system was equally stunned, seeing the cat demonâs lips turn bright red from the spice. âIs this common food really that delicious?â Jiang Lin, hearing the systemâs words, suddenly had a thought. âCommon food?â The system, seeming not to be on guard with him, haughtily replied, âIn our world, beings are born with the ability to fast, and apart from rare spiritual items, we never touch these common, impure foods.â Jiang Linâs curiosity about this so-called world of the Great Thousand instantly waned. âOh.â A world without good food? No thanks. The system sensed his indifference and fell silent. After a while, the cat demon finished gnawing on the chicken wing, her hands now greasy, and couldnât resist licking them. The system then asked, âIs that roast chicken wing really that good?â Jiang Lin chuckled. âYou can only know how good something is by tasting it yourself. Unfortunately, you canât.â The system didnât respond. Not only could it not taste, but it couldnât even smell the food. The cat demon clearly wasnât satisfied yet, her big round eyes fixated on the remaining roast chicken, not hiding her desire at all. Jiang Lin found it amusing. âWant more?â The little demon was straightforward, showing no embarrassment as she quickly nodded in response. Jiang Lin tore off another piece of meat for her. The cat demon joyfully continued gnawing on the chicken. She thought to herself, The king is amazing! She had never known that wild chicken could taste so good. The wild chicken was quite fatty, and after eating two drumsticks and a large piece of meat, Jiang Lin began to feel a bit full. By now, the chicken soup should be ready too. He walked over and lifted the lid of the pot. A rich, savory aroma immediately filled the air. The cat demon, who had been busy with her chicken, was stunned. She turned her head, staring blankly at the pot emitting white steam. Could it be that this pot contains some kind of celestial nectar?
