Ch 10: Interplanetary Planting Master

The Meeting

The black mech moved at an astonishing speed, leaving behind an afterimage accompanied by the sound of the air shattering just seconds later, stunning everyone on the Iris.

“What’s going on?” Jiang Bo looked confused.

“What happened to the boss?”

Everyone exchanged glances, and Shen Shen was the first to consider a possibility. “…It’s a guide.”

“A guide? That’s a bit over the top. It’s not like the boss hasn’t seen a guide before. Unless…” Jiang Bo’s eyes suddenly widened, “…it’s a 100% match.”

In the captain’s quarters, Zhuang Wei watched the rapidly descending black mech with a smile. “He’s a lucky young man.”

The sentinel next to him nodded, a trace of envy flashing across his face.

Ancient historians on Earth once studied that every sentinel would have a destined guide, with a compatibility rate of 100%, perfectly matching their souls. However, in the Federation, the ratio of sentinels to guides was as high as 20:1. For a sentinel to find a guide with decent compatibility was already considered lucky. Not every sentinel could be fortunate enough to meet their destined guide.

For sentinels and guides, the higher the compatibility, the stronger the mutual attraction. Although a powerful guide could filter out most of the influences from sentinels, in cases of 100% compatibility, they would irresistibly attract and desire each other. Even separated by thousands of miles, they could sense each other. It was an indescribably intense emotion, like a storm, a tsunami, or an earthquake, sweeping everything in its path.

This was precisely how Lu Li felt at that moment. He couldn’t think or breathe, with only one thought in his mind—find him. His senses spread out, covering the land below. The rough texture of the red rocks, the foul stench of dark beast nests, the piles of debris in the desolate ruins, and the occasional armed figures… all flashed in his perception. Only a sweet fragrance lingered, attracting him, tempting him, and guiding him.

The scent grew stronger, causing Lu Li’s entire body to tremble with excitement. The other’s pheromones were intoxicatingly sweet, enveloping him, making him feel an unprecedented warmth and peace, along with a profound throbbing. This throbbing came from his soul, resonating throughout his body, shaking his mental world. He couldn’t wait to find his treasure, to touch him, kiss him, and claim him, leaving his mark on him. Their souls would merge, imprinting on each other, never to be separated.

The black mech sped through the air as Su He cautiously returned to the ruins from the underground world. For some reason, he felt uneasy, with an inexplicable emptiness inside that wouldn’t go away. Bored and tormented by the feeling, Su He decided to sneak back to the surface. It had been 20 hours since the attack, and they needed to scout the area. To avoid accidents, they agreed to contact each other every half hour. Neither Su He nor Han Rui, who stayed in the underground world, could guarantee absolute safety.

The two “suns” in the sky still emitted weak light. Su He circled the area, ensuring no one had come to the ruins. He remembered the radishes he had planted the day before, which he had forgotten to harvest due to the urgency. With nothing else to do today, he decided to show Han Rui his cooking skills at noon. The radishes had grown even better overnight. Just as Su He was about to pick a couple of large ones to take back, he heard the sound of something heavy hitting the ground outside the ruins.

The black mech landed heavily, its cockpit opening as Lu Li jumped out and looked up.

Su He’s heart skipped a beat. He vaguely saw a shadow pass by in the sky, and an inexplicable urge drew him, tempting him to see what was outside. His rational mind screamed danger, but the impulse was too strong. Uncontrollably, he peeked out the window, locking eyes with Lu Li.

Their gazes met, and Su He’s mental world blossomed into spring. A powerful, unfamiliar emotion arose within him, gripping him tightly. He scanned the man below, his eyes sweeping over the man’s brows, eyes, nose, lips, and chin, unable to look away. It felt like an invisible hand was pushing him forward, urging him to go to the man.

Man!

The word struck like a bolt of lightning, snapping Su He back to his senses. He immediately recalled what the web had said about guides being attracted to sentinels. He had always thought this attraction would be mild, never imagining it would be so overwhelming. He wasn’t ready to accept his identity as a guide, let alone that the other person was a male sentinel. This felt like the universe’s cruelest joke.

The next moment, Su He turned and ran. Thanks to Han Rui’s explanations of the surroundings, Su He quickly determined his escape route. He swiftly turned left and right, grabbing a rope to swing down to the first floor. Below was a pool of foul-smelling mud. Su He rolled in it proficiently, then continued running. Ahead was a dark beast’s nest, and at this time, the beast was napping. Su He needed to disturb the beast to delay the sentinel behind him.

This wasn’t easy. Su He had to run while fighting his body’s instincts. It was like having two voices in his head: one shouting, “It’s a male sentinel, run!” and the other saying, “He’s never seen such a handsome man. If he’s destined to find a sentinel, why not him?”

“Shut up,” Su He growled. Even though he had never been in a relationship, it didn’t mean he would fall for a man at first sight.

The voice in his head weakened as Su He reached the edge of the dark beast’s nest. But a pair of arms suddenly wrapped around him from behind, pinning him to the wall.

“It’s dangerous up ahead.”

The deep, magnetic voice in his ear made Su He’s body tremble involuntarily. He felt the other’s desire sweep over him like a storm, making him want to yield. His body’s reactions grew stranger. Su He tried to push the man away but ended up gripping him tighter. He didn’t understand. Weren’t sentinels supposed to have heightened senses, making them sensitive to strong odors? He had rolled in mud to mask his scent, and even he couldn’t stand the stench on him. How was this man enduring it?

Lu Li had the same question. He had never seen such a dirty guide. Federation guides were always meticulously cared for, without a speck of dust on them. He knew the guide was trying to mask his pheromones, but it was futile. The sweet scent overwhelmed everything in such close proximity. He smelled nothing else but the guide’s intoxicating fragrance.

Lu Li leaned down, nuzzling the guide’s neck. The contrast between his fair skin and the dirty jacket was striking. He took a deep breath, letting his body relax onto the young man. “What’s your name … darling?”

I never imagined their first interaction to be a hide-and-chase, lol. Hopefully Lu Li can assure Su He that he means him no harm, but I wonder how he plans to do that in their current situation. I also wonder how Lu Li plans to pursue Su He, especially considering the latter is able to not be completely controlled by his guide instincts and doesn’t seem attracted to men.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
