Ch 43 (Part 2): Rebirth of the Tool Man in a Pampered Protagonist Novel

As the plaintiffs, Tang Xun’s lawyer and the prosecution stood up together and reiterated the charges:

“According to the deposition, our victim, Mr. Tang, accidentally came across a photo half a month ago. In the photo, he saw his mother, Ms. Zheng Yaxue, and Madam Lu posing together twenty years ago, each holding a newborn baby.”

“At first glance, this seemed like an ordinary matter, but our victim discovered a slight resemblance between his appearance and Madam Lu’s, while the appearance of the baby held by Zheng Yaxue differed slightly from his own childhood photos, which raised suspicions…”

“Afterward, Mr. Tang began to investigate, using methods such as DNA testing, gathering information, and finding witnesses, eventually confirming his speculations about the truth.”

As the lawyer spoke, he presented some evidence and documents, among which several DNA test reports were particularly prominent.

[DNA test between Tang Xun and Zheng Yaxue as mother and child; DNA test between Tang Xun and Fang Ziyang as father and son; DNA test between Tang Xun and Fang Ziyang as brothers.]

As well as.

[DNA test between Fang Qianhao and Zheng Yaxue as mother and child; DNA test between Fang Qianhao and Fang Ziyang as father and son; DNA test between Fang Qianhao and Fang Ziyang as brothers.]

Six comprehensive test reports, all conducted by authoritative institutions in China and abroad, as well as verified by the police.

“Therefore, based on the above evidence, our side can reasonably infer that Fang Yandong and Zheng Yaxue were once in a romantic relationship and had a child together. With premeditation, they conspired to steal our victim while he was still an infant, forcibly taking over our victim’s identity and assets.”

“Moreover, over the years, Zheng Yaxue has been indoctrinating our victim, not only intending to deprive him of his rightful identity and property but also intending to claim the inheritance of the Lu family.”

“Later, when our victim’s mother, Ms. Lu Fei, discovered the truth, she had an argument with Mr. Fang Yandong.”

“Thus, it can be seen that this is a premeditated and purposeful crime with severe and malicious intent. Therefore, based on Article XX, Article XX, and Article XX of the Criminal Law, we accuse the defendant of child trafficking, misappropriation of substantial assets, and other crimes.”

“In addition to the written documentary evidence, our victim also has two eyewitnesses who can testify at any time.”

The lawyer representing Tang Xun was well-prepared, presenting a logical accusation and providing ample evidence, both physical and testimonial.

The judge nodded.

Aunt Zhang and Uncle Liu were brought in together.

Under Fang Yandong’s unpleasant expression, the two didn’t conceal anything about what they had noticed at the time. They also divulged the fact that Fang Yandong had instructed them to corrupt the young master.

“…What we said is all true. Over the years, the master has always instructed us to prevent the young master from studying and focus on indulging in food, drink, and entertainment. In order to make us work hard, the master has paid us wages and bonuses far exceeding those of ordinary nannies and drivers. This can be verified by bank transfer records.”

As for the antique jade stones, the two did not mention them as instructed by Fang Ziyang.

After all, Fang Ziyang had already swindled 2.3 billion from him with the antique jade stones. If Uncle Liu and Aunt Zhang were to disclose it now, wouldn’t it reveal that Fang Ziyang had known the truth and intentionally plotted against his father?

It would only lead to charges against Fang Ziyang, and he didn’t want to bring unnecessary trouble upon himself.

In any case, the place where Fang Yandong would truly meet his downfall was yet to come. For now, Fang Yandong would only spend a few more years in prison. When he came out, he would still be a hero. He wouldn’t do something that was thankless and required great effort.

Tang Xun’s lawyer presented comprehensive evidence, and his reasoning was shocking.

Even the journalists on the jury, who had seen and heard a lot, couldn’t help but gasp. They had seen cruel things, but they had never seen anything as ruthless as this. It was even more excessive than strangling a newborn baby!

“Order!”

The judge’s voice from the jury seat hammered down, restoring order.

…

The trial continued.

Fang Yandong and Zheng Yaxue naturally refused to admit the accusations made by Tang Xun.

Without any mercy, Zheng Yaxue directly shifted all the blame onto Fang Yandong and her sister, Zheng Yating, turning from the mastermind to an accomplice.

“Your Honor, I do not entirely agree with these accusations. I admit that I stole and switched the two children, but it was all under Fang Yandong’s instructions!”

Although Zheng Yaxue was not particularly clever, her personality was extremely cautious. She had long been concerned about the possibility of exposure and had prepared herself for exoneration.

“…Your Honor, the reason Fang Yandong instructed me to do all this was because he had always suspected that Ms. Lu Fei had betrayed him. He held a grudge. Later, when he found out about my deception, he also harbored resentment toward me. So, he asked me to switch the children, and then he wanted to possess the marital property and the Lu family inheritance, all while leading a double life with my sister.”

“But at that time, I was worried that things would be exposed, so I kept the information about the switched children and reported it to him.”

“And over the years, although Fang Yandong didn’t bring my sister back home, he gave her a monthly allowance, and only when he acknowledged Yan Tong’s identity did he allow the child to return home without personally verifying the DNA. He didn’t expect that the child he had with my sister had already died, and Yan Tong was just a substitute my sister found to avoid his blame. Your Honor, what I’m saying is true, and I have evidence.”

“I know I shouldn’t have deceived him and stolen my sister’s credit, but I really didn’t expect him to be so heartless, wanting me to shoulder all the blame alone… sob…”

Zheng Yaxue tearfully defended herself.

The evidence she presented was also quite solid.

However, Fang Yandong was infuriated by her shameless distortion of the truth.

He couldn’t accept that he, who had been so shrewd all his life, had been deceived and played by a woman like her. Only now did he realize the extent of his deception.

This woman not only deceived his emotions and destroyed his family, but now she wanted him to take the blame.

If it weren’t for Zheng Yaxue’s shamelessness, he would never have loved the wrong person…

If it wasn’t for Zheng Yaxue’s scheming, he would never have misunderstood his deceased wife’s character… After all, although he didn’t particularly like Lu Fei at the time, he didn’t dislike her either. Lu Fei was a suitable wife for a business alliance, and they had a harmonious relationship.

He wouldn’t have treated his younger son so harshly out of resentment for his deceased wife’s ‘infidelity’ in order to protect his “true love” son!

As for giving monthly allowances to Zheng Yating over the years, it was entirely because of Zheng Yaxue! When Zheng Yaxue left, she entrusted her sister to his care!

Fang Yandong truly regretted his actions.

“Objection! Your Honor, I object!”

Fang Yandong glared at Zheng Yaxue, who was crying as if she was genuinely innocent. He raised his hand and loudly objected, signaling his lawyer to defend him.

Over the past few days, he had thought a lot about it. Although Tang Xun accused both him and Zheng Yaxue, most of the evidence presented by Tang Xun pointed to Zheng Yaxue as the mastermind. Zheng Yaxue’s unnecessary brainwashing of Tang Xun to protect her son over the years was the most damaging behavior.

He knew that there were some charges that he couldn’t defend against.

Time was short, and there was too much evidence. All he could do was admit to the least severe part.

Also, it was fortunate that Uncle Liu and Aunt Zhang were afraid of being implicated as accomplices and didn’t mention the antique jade stones. So after discussing with his lawyer, he decided to plead guilty, but he would decide what charges to admit.

Fang Yandong’s lawyer stepped forward:

“Your Honor, we oppose all the accusations made by Ms. Zheng Yaxue. My client admits that he did know about the child-switching scheme and turned a blind eye to Ms. Zheng Yaxue’s theft of the baby. At the same time, he did not fulfill the responsibilities of a normal father in raising his younger son.”

“However, all my client’s actions were based on being deceived by Zheng Yaxue!”

“Because of Zheng Yaxue’s deception, my client condoned her criminal activities and failed to report them. He also neglected the upbringing of his younger son, all with the intention of handing over the family business and the Lu family inheritance to Fang Qianhao in the future.”

“And giving a monthly allowance to Ms. Zheng Yating was also based on the fact that she is Zheng Yaxue’s sister.”

“Although my client cannot provide conclusive evidence, we can infer from human nature and motives that Zheng Yaxue’s text message cannot be considered as conclusive evidence.”

“If we follow Zheng Yaxue’s claim that my client already knew the truth, knew that he had loved the wrong person… then he wouldn’t have needed to go through the trouble of raising Zheng Yating and her son outside. He could have simply married her after his deceased wife’s death!”

“… And in Tang Xun’s accusation, there is a separate mention of Zheng Yaxue’s brainwashing of Tang Xun from an early age, in order for Tang Xun to return home in the future as an illegitimate child and fight for the family property, protecting Fang Qianhao in reality.”

“From this, can we not infer that Zheng Yaxue was waiting for an ‘accident’ to happen to my client during the dispute over the family property, and then her son would inherit the family business and she would return as a wealthy woman?”

Although Zheng Yaxue had prepared evidence, there were indeed loopholes.

Her plan at the time was quite thorough. If this case were tried twenty years ago, she might have been able to successfully exonerate herself with just a text message as evidence.

However, the law had become more stringent now, and in the absence of conclusive evidence, arguments based on “human nature” and “sociology” had significant impact on the judge’s judgment.

In the courtroom, Zheng Yaxue and Fang Yandong began to attack each other.

Although Zheng Yaxue had prepared evidence to exonerate herself, she didn’t expect Tang Xun to uncover so much in one go, and some of her arguments were still incomplete and had loopholes.

Fang Yandong’s lawyer seized on these loopholes and didn’t refute the evidence directly. However, Fang Yandong’s speculations based on motives and behavioral psychology were reasonable and had some reference value. Moreover, his hatred toward Zheng Yaxue was unreservedly displayed.

“No, that’s not true. Your Honor, the reason Fang Yandong didn’t marry my sister was simply because he was afraid of Fang Ziyang’s opposition. He wanted to secure his son’s share of the stocks and the Lu family inheritance. If he angered Fang Ziyang, he wouldn’t get them…”

“And I still have the recording of him saying that he would retaliate against Ms. Lu Fei’s affair. When I brainwashed Tang Xun, it was only out of maternal love. I wanted my son to have a good life.”

“I really didn’t intend to seize the Fang and Lu family assets. I already have a wealthy boyfriend overseas, I have no need for them… sob…”

To evade conviction, Zheng Yaxue had quite a skill in distorting the truth.

Unfortunately, she still made some sense, and Fang Yandong, unprepared, couldn’t provide substantial rebuttal evidence.

Fang Yandong couldn’t contain his anger and stood up, angrily cursing, losing his composure.

I didn’t realize that Zheng Yaxue was so cunning at twisting the truth in ways that could benefit her. With her ability to distort facts so easily and shamelessly, it’s shocking she’s not Yan Tong’s mother, lol.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
