Ch 43 (Part 1): Rebirth of the Tool Man in a Pampered Protagonist Novel

“Qianhao, it’s me, can you open the door? I’m very worried about you…” Yan Tong’s weak voice rang out.

The furious Fang Qianhao heard this, and his depression faded quite a bit.

Love is a very magical thing. Regardless of gender, when true feelings are involved, we all tend to do some inexplicable things because of love. During times of adversity and difficulties, it also provides spiritual comfort and solace.

Fang Qianhao’s external personality is that of a domineering and cold kind, but when facing Yan Tong, he could be like a beast being soothed, displaying all his tenderness.

His feelings for Yan Tong were undeniable.

He opened the door, saw Yan Tong’s worried face, and his heart warmed. His tone softened involuntarily.

He opened the door wide, let him in, showing great concern.

“Xiao Tong, how come you came back alone? Why didn’t you call me, so I could pick you up? Did you run into those annoying paparazzi? Those immoral fellows, sticking around like chewing gum…”

Seeing Fang Qianhao, as always, caring for him, Yan Tong was very pleased, a secret smile of satisfaction appearing on him face.

Before he transmigrated, he had come to understand an important truth: A beautiful face, an image that makes any man or woman feel affection, is extremely important. As long as one has these, they are no worse off than any magical ability.

Before his transmigration, he had seen too many people climb to high positions with these two advantages in their career. He was both envious and jealous, but his ordinary appearance before was a handicap, no matter how much he learned to attract people.

But now that weakness was gone, the original owner was born with a lovable face. Combined with the skills he had learned before, he was confident he could attract all the excellent men destined to surround Fang Ziyang to chase him.

Now Xie Wenxu and Fang Qianhao were perfect examples.

Fang Qianhao was also a top-tier handsome guy, the cold and domineering kind. Previously, he had to consider the blood relation between them, not daring to cross certain lines while maintaining a good relationship. Now he was not a member of the Fang family, and he didn’t need to hold back anymore.

Yan Tong shook his head slightly, released his charm without reservation, and showed a strong yet weak smile on his face,

“No, most of the paparazzi are guarding the front door of the police station. I asked the doorman inside, and left from the back door. I’m fine, Qianhao, you don’t have to worry about me. But I did see what happened to you earlier…I’m a bit worried about you.”

These words might not seem clever to an outsider, and anyone who is not particularly naive could detect a hint of manipulation in them.

But for a man already fallen for his charm, these words were simply a magic weapon to earn his affection.

At least when Fang Qianhao heard this, he felt both pained and warm.

Many people on the internet and friends around him were talking about the various shortcomings of Xiao Tong, saying he was calculating, that he was deliberately trying to attract Xie Wenxu to strike at Fang Ziyang. But he knew, all that was not true, Xiao Tong was the kindest person in the world, tender yet strong, all those were just slanderous nonsense.

Just like now, whenever he faced a small problem, all those friends and brothers who used to be very close to him, all those men and women who claimed to like him, disappeared without a trace.

At critical moments, true character is revealed. Only Yan Tong remains by his side, unwavering.

Seeing the delicate white neck peeking out from Yan Tong, Fang Qianhao couldn’t contain the emotions he had been suppressing and they erupted once again.

He couldn’t help but reach out and embrace the person in front of him. The fierce lion revealed his vulnerability.

“Xiao Tong, if… if I’m really not my mother’s son, if I’m truly… truly a bastard son, would you…”

He didn’t finish his sentence.

Yan Tong interrupted directly, “No, Qianhao gege, regardless of whether you are or aren’t the illegitimate child of the Fang family, in my heart, you are you, the most outstanding Qianhao gege. You’ve never despised me for my humble background, always taking care of me. How could I despise you?”

“Moreover, Qianhao gege, you are so excellent. Even if you’re not Madam Lu’s son, you will achieve great things in the future. Besides, in Uncle Fang’s heart, you are the son he truly likes. So, Qianhao gege, don’t let other people’s jealous words affect you…”

Yan Tong’s words came from the bottom of his heart.

Although Fang Qianhao, the half-brother of the protagonist, had a somewhat impulsive temper, he was indeed very capable and would undoubtedly achieve great things in the future. After all, in the novel, he was also a small boss and a talented individual.

Fang Qianhao was currently in a vulnerable and confused state, and Yan Tong’s words were a great comfort to him.

He couldn’t help but tear up, his emotions swirling. He wanted to say something but was once again interrupted by Yan Tong’s perceptive timing.

Yan Tong, with a hint of shyness, struggled out of his embrace and quickly changed the subject. A vague and ambiguous approach was the most effective way to hook someone for the long term.

“Qianhao gege, don’t worry now. This matter will soon pass, and I’ll accompany you through it. By the way, just now I heard Aunt Zhang mention something about Madam Lu’s necklace. Is that necklace very precious? Why does Fang Ziyang want that necklace specifically, instead of the other things?”

Speaking of this…

Fang Qianhao’s anger flared up, but he suppressed it in front of Yan Tong. His tone was resentful, “There are so many heirlooms from my mother. How would I know about a necklace? It’s definitely Fang Ziyang deliberately picking a fight with me. We’ve never gotten along since we were kids. He seizes every opportunity to oppose me!”

Yan Tong also didn’t know which one of them had the necklace.

Although he read in the novel that Fang Ziyang discovered it, it didn’t mention when he discovered the secret of the necklace. It was possible that the necklace ended up in Fang Ziyang’s hands after Fang Qianhao. It was unclear.

Fang Qianhao didn’t remember, so he would have to search for it.

Yan Tong was getting anxious, “Qianhao gege, I can see that Fang Ziyang values that necklace a lot. Why don’t you find it? I have a friend who can help you appraise it discreetly. After all, if the necklace is really important and you give it away in a fit of anger, it would be advantageous to Fang Ziyang…”

Upon hearing this, Fang Qianhao’s expression slightly changed.

Xiao Tong was right. It was all his fault for acting irrationally. His mother was the daughter of the Lu family, and although the Lu family wasn’t a prominent clan, they were quite well-off. If the necklace was indeed valuable, but appeared ordinary, he would suffer a great loss if he gave it away recklessly.

Otherwise, why would Fang Ziyang insist on the necklace while disregarding other heirlooms?

With these thoughts, Fang Qianhao calmed down and nodded. He quickly opened the safe and began searching.

After a thorough search, he indeed found the necklace mentioned by Aunt Zhang in the safe. It was a necklace with a small teardrop-shaped jade pendant. The design was nice, but the materials and overall appearance seemed ordinary, giving no indication of its value.

However, as soon as he took out the necklace, Yan Tong’s eyes lit up, and his heart pounded.

“Qianhao gege, don’t worry, I will help you handle this. Fang Ziyang would never expect that I would help you get the necklace appraised.”

“Okay, I’ll leave it to you.”

Fang Qianhao didn’t doubt him at all and handed over the item with a sense of relief.

With the golden finger in his hands, Yan Tong was ecstatic.

…

After Yan Tong returned home, Aunt Zhang informed Fang Ziyang of the news in the evening.

Upon confirming that Yan Tong had obtained the necklace from Fang Qianhao, Fang Ziyang couldn’t hide his excitement and spent the whole afternoon locked in his room with a broad smile on his face.

Greed truly kills, and this statement was undeniably true.

Whether it was Fang Yandong and others or Yan Tong, if they hadn’t been so greedy, how could they have walked into the traps he had set time and time again?

Therefore, self-inflicted misfortune leads to inevitable death.

Crossing off one plan in his mental notebook, seven days later, Fang Ziyang finally waited for the day of the court hearing.

May 23rd.

The case of the Fang family’s mistress and the switched child was officially brought to trial.

Due to the social status of the plaintiffs, defendants, and witnesses involved in this case, as well as the shocking nature of the case itself, it had gained attention beyond the internet after a week of fermenting. It had now become a matter of national concern, and even a small portion of foreign media had taken notice.

A talented scientific researcher with a tumultuous and mysterious background—it was simply too eye-catching!

On the day of the trial, the entrance of the Jiang City People’s Court was filled with reporters, and the crowd of onlookers and netizens was so excited that the street was almost impassable. Luckily, the court had limitations on the number of people present, otherwise, the crowd would have overwhelmed the courtroom.

However, the media outlets with influential backgrounds had managed to secure the opportunity for their reporters to be present as jurors.

Amidst the clicking of cameras from the reporters outside and the angry voices of the onlookers and netizens,

All the witnesses, plaintiffs, defendants, and family members of the jury entered the courtroom one by one, taking their respective seats in the plaintiff’s box, defendant’s box, and the public seating area.

Later on, the court secretary and jurors took their seats.

When the judge arrived, everyone stood up in respect, and the judge officially announced the commencement of the trial.

They had been interrogated in the police station for several days.

Both Fang Yadong and the Zheng sisters, Zheng Yaxue and Zheng Yating, looked visibly worn out and haggard.

The harmony that used to exist in their mutual gazes had vanished, replaced with hatred and resentment.

Under the piercing gaze of the two knives, Zheng Yaxue felt a sense of fear and kept her head down, her face pale, still appearing innocent and harmless.

Until now, she continued to use her innocent appearance and lies to conceal her actions, hoping to escape punishment.

She was not a particularly capable woman.

In a way, she and Yan Tong were similar. They were both adept at using their physical advantages to satisfy their greed and then wash their hands of the matter.

Of course.

Zheng Yaxue was not without fear. She was well aware of the kind of people Fang Yandong and her sister were. Now that the truth was exposed, she felt panicked and terrified…

However, in order to escape punishment, she made the most favorable choice for herself, which was to pin the blame on someone else.

And Fang Yandong and her sister became the perfect targets.

After the judge’s gavel announced the opening of the trial.

  1. M&M's says:

So did Fang Ziyang allow Yan Tong to obtain the real jade pendant? If that’s the case, then perhaps the technology and other information left in there have already been altered by Fang Ziyang to have terrible consequences if used. Fang Ziyang could also have kept the information inside unaltered and if Yan Tong sells it to a company that ends up using it, Xie Zheng’s company will also already have the same information and claim it was stolen. Either way, I can only see Yan Tong being somehow blamed for the use of the information from the “golden finger,” lol.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
