Ch 56: Daily Farm Life After Returning from Interstellar

Unexpectedly, it was an incredibly dreamy shade of pink. When Su Mu saw the color, she couldn’t help but show a look of fascination. It was truly beautiful.

The flower hadn’t fully opened yet, but the elliptical shape was undergoing changes.

The bud started to become elegant, and its fluffy edges began to appear. It looked like a fluffy cotton candy. Su Mu felt a slight itch in her hand and wanted to touch its petals to confirm whether the texture was as soft as it appeared.

The light rain was still falling, accompanied by the wind, causing the entire plant to sway.

Su Mu noticed its uniqueness. The bottommost leaves were completely unaffected by the rain, remaining dry.

Rising onto her tiptoes, she extended her hand and lightly touched the leaves. The small fuzz was very smooth, like touching silk. Even the entire leaf was soft; she examined it closely and found that the leaf was almost devoid of veins! She had no idea what was supporting it, making it so expansive and upright.

When raindrops fell on the leaves, they slid down immediately, leaving no trace.

This wasn’t just a leaf; it was as good as fine silk.

Su Mu’s eyes shone. She wondered how resilient it was. If only she could use it to make clothes.

While observing the leaves, the flower was quietly undergoing changes.

The fluff stopped growing, and the gaps between the petals widened. With a soft sound, the flower gradually opened.

Suddenly, Su Mu felt the space above darken. Instinctively, she looked up, and one petal after another slowly stretched outward.

After two minutes, a pink violet about two meters wide floated in the air. Due to the presence of the fluff, the flower appeared to have an irregular shape. The fringes of the petals fluttered in the wind, giving the impression of a delicate pink cloud.

She had miscalculated; it wasn’t just the height of a pavilion. It was about five or six meters tall. Because of this, Su Mu couldn’t see the appearance of the flower immediately. Standing beneath the thick stem, all she could see was the back of the flower. She wanted to see a super-clear frontal photo!

After a moment of contemplation, Su Mu sprinted all the way, quickly ascending to the third floor of her new house. From the third-floor balcony, she finally saw the true appearance of the pink violet!

Actually, if it weren’t for the fringes, it would look more like a giant sunflower. The floral disk was large, around a meter in diameter, and it had a faint pink color, resembling unripe melon seeds.

However, its petals were much more numerous than those of a sunflower, and they were multilayered and stacked like a fairy’s skirt. When Su Mu saw it, she was truly stunned. Using impoverished language couldn’t convey its beauty. Just as she was about to utter a surprised exclamation, she held it back. She couldn’t defile this ethereal cloud with foul language.

Little Orchid and Little Violet appeared by her side, seemingly out of nowhere.

“Giant Violet: Capable of bearing up to 200 kg, its leaves and petals can be used as fabric. It boasts top marks in resilience and color. The stem’s hardness rivals that of a diamond, while the outer skin is green. The main stem is as translucent as glass, making it suitable for decoration.

The fruit possesses liver-protective and vision-enhancing effects and has a sweet and fragrant taste. It’s easy to cultivate, adaptable to all environments, and if left undisturbed, its lifespan can exceed 300 years. It blooms once a year, and its fruits turn deep pink when ripe. The ripening period is not fixed.

It also possesses a characteristic of concealment for self-protection.”

The more Su Mu listened, the more excited she became. She had initially thought that the Immortal Lip’s abilities were already powerful enough, but she didn’t expect this pink violet to be even more formidable!

She turned to Little Violet and asked him carefully, “How do you explain ‘concealment’?”

Little Violet gazed with clear eyes and explained systematically, “It’s just like what you humans see on TV, invisibility. However, its invisibility doesn’t completely hide its form. The main stem and leaves can be concealed, but the color of the flower can still be faintly seen. From a distance, it looks like a cluster of pink mist.”

“So, how can it be concealed?” Su Mu tapped her head. She had been a bit thoughtless, the joy of nurturing the seed had clouded her mind. She was solely focused on making it quickly take root and sprout, without considering the consequences. If this pink violet didn’t possess its defensive ability, she wouldn’t have known how to explain the sudden appearance of such a large flower in the backyard to her parents.

Thinking about it now, she truly felt relieved. Su Mu reminded herself to be more cautious in the future.

“Very simple, lightly tap the junction between the bottommost leaf and the main stem three times, and it will conceal its form.”

Could it really be that simple? Su Mu was astonished.

Little Violet continued, “It’s easy to care for and delicate. It doesn’t like being disturbed. If you tap it lightly, it will assume it’s under attack and naturally hide itself, making it impossible for enemies to detect. If you want it to reappear, you need to change the tapping into a gentle stroke; otherwise, it might remain concealed for decades without revealing its original form.”

“Oh, and when its fruits ripen, they will drop naturally. If you want to eat them, come check them regularly. As long as the color remains a deep pink, they can still be eaten. But you have to pick them in time. Just like Fairy Lips can be divided after long cultivation, its fruits are seeds too, capable of taking root and sprouting.”

Listening to this, Su Mu nodded. She reached out and gently stroked Little Violet’s head. Indeed, plants understood the traits of their own kind best. Without Little Violet, she probably would’ve had to expend a lot of brainpower to come up with an explanation.

Little Violet slightly backed away with a hint of disdain, retreating until it felt a touch from Little Orchid’s wing, and then it showed a faint smile again.

“Are we staying here tonight?” Little Orchid proposed with a longing look. The flower looked very soft; it would definitely be comfortable to sleep on. Perhaps the morning dew on the flower would taste better than in other places.

Little Violet naturally agreed to this suggestion without hesitation.

Su Mu wasn’t annoyed by being ignored. After coming down from the upper floor, she positioned herself beneath the main stem and firmly etched the location into her memory. Raising her hand, she lightly tapped the base of the first leaf three times. The entire plant soon disappeared from its original spot.

She touched the same spot again, and the plant’s shape reappeared before her eyes.

Su Mu was like a child with a newfound toy, occasionally touching and tapping.

Suddenly, a heavy object hit her head. Lowering her head, she saw a deep pink seed, about the size of three peanuts combined. Its shape was quite similar to sunflower seeds.

She chuckled lightly. Indeed, it was quite temperamental. Impatient with her disturbances, it had intentionally grown a fruit as a warning. How adorable!

Since she had received a warning, Su Mu didn’t continue to disturb it. She picked up the seed, circled around it twice. When she didn’t find any fallen seeds on the ground, she opened her umbrella and left.

Looking back, there was indeed a vague cluster of pink mist in the backyard. If she didn’t look closely, she wouldn’t notice it at all.

Realizing she hadn’t named it yet, she couldn’t think of a good name for it at the moment. She could only temporarily set this matter aside.

Father Su had already returned from the lychee orchard and was watching TV in the living room.

Seeing her return from outside, he casually asked, “Mu Mu, where did you go?”

Su Mu changed her shoes and replied, “I went to the new house to take a look.”

“Oh, don’t worry. The tree saplings and flowers were just planted yesterday, and it’s raining today. This means the tree and flowers will definitely thrive.”

“Is mom not back yet?” She sat down beside her father. The older generation liked watching war dramas, but she lost interest after watching a couple of episodes; the plot was just too cheesy.

“She’s still visiting neighbors. She should be back during lunchtime. Why, do you need something from her?”

Su Mu opened her palm, revealing the deep pink seed to Father Su. However, he only glanced at it briefly before averting his gaze.

“Buying all these strange things online again, and surprisingly, they actually look pretty good.”

Compared to sunflower seeds, this seed was smoother in texture. When she brought it under her nose and sniffed, a tempting and sweet aroma wafted into her nostrils.

Her father’s reaction was just as she had expected. She had to explain, “This isn’t a decoration. It’s something you can eat. Consuming it can improve your eyesight. Remember how Mom had serious eye issues before? I plan to give this to her. Dad, next time my friend sends some more, I’ll give you some as well. But this time, let Mom have it first.”

Father Su straightened up and said seriously, “Is it reliable? Is it safe? We can’t just eat anything that comes our way.”

The color of this seed didn’t look normal. It was said that the more vibrant something was, the more toxic it could be. He was worried that his own daughter might have been deceived.

“It’s safe to eat. It’s developed by a proper national institution, and it has gone through several rounds of clinical trials without any issues.”

As soon as Father Su heard that it was from a national institution, he felt relieved.

Su Mu handed the seed to him and said with a smile, “Smell it carefully. It has a pleasant fragrance, probably similar to the smell of sunflower seeds.”

Father Su brought the peanut-sized seed under his nose and indeed detected a natural, pleasant fragrance.

“Then let your mom have it when she comes back. Or, should we open it first and give a little piece to the chickens?”

Mainly, this seed was just too peculiar, and after some thought, he felt a bit uneasy.

To ease her father’s concerns, Su Mu agreed to the suggestion.

She took the seed in both hands and applied pressure, producing a cracking sound as the seed split open, revealing the pink flesh inside.

Without the outer shell, the aroma became even stronger.

The seed’s skin was thin, and the flesh was plump. Su Mu picked up the fruit knife her father handed her. She thought the seed might be very hard, but to her surprise, the knife easily cut through the flesh upon contact, producing a crisp sound.

Under the eaves, a little chicken was sheltering from the rain. Father Su fed the small piece of seed to it. Perhaps the aroma was too enticing, as the chick quickly devoured the seed and then turned in place twice, seeming to savor the taste.

The hell, then that means that they can use the stem (don’t know the thickness) for self defense too as well as decoration…. how about making it to a sword? Like a glass sword with the hardness that of a diamond
