Ch 15: Rebirth of the Tool Man in a Pampered Protagonist Novel

The surging flow in the villa’s living room made Fang Ziyang lose interest in thinking any further.

In his second battle after reincarnation, he once again emerged victorious, laying a solid foundation for future confrontations, which put him in a great mood.

Closing the door and temporarily setting aside these matters, Fang Ziyang’s first priority upon returning to his room was to immediately open his safe and retrieve the jade pendant that his mother had left for him!

He didn’t care about having any cheat, but this jade pendant had the potential to become a source of assistance for Yan Tong, so he wanted to take the initiative.

Moreover, the jade pendant belonged to him in the first place, so why should he just let it go without a fight?

The safe contained many valuable items, and the jade pendant itself was not large and not easily recognizable when placed in an ordinary box. Fang Ziyang searched for quite a while before finding it.

The jade stone had a droplet shape and was set in a silver frame, with a very modern design and average quality.

Unless they were family members, no one would have guessed that this item was a centuries-old heirloom passed down from the Lu family.

Even Fang Ziyang himself had doubts when he first received the item since it looked like an ordinary accessory that could be bought for a few hundred dollars in an ordinary mall.

However, in reality, this item contained vast possibilities within it.

Recalling the methods from the golden book, Fang Ziyang cut his finger and let his fresh blood drop onto the jade pendant, then patiently waited.

As the blood slowly seeped into the jade stone.

After a few minutes, the jade pendant suddenly became hot and floated in mid-air, transforming into a stream of light that entered Fang Ziyang’s body through his bleeding fingertip.

Then Fang Ziyang felt a momentary blur and saw a white-dimensional space of about ten square meters.

There weren’t many things in the space, only a silver wristwatch with an advanced technological design, a set of tattered clothes that resembled armor from a sci-fi movie, and a few handwritten paper notebooks…

The items were really scarce and seemed quite ordinary.

But Fang Ziyang knew that those things were not as inconspicuous as they appeared on the surface. From the golden book, he learned that the small silver wristwatch contained a wealth of technological knowledge beyond his time. The handwritten notebooks contained many rare and magical prescriptions.

In the plot, Yan Tong relied on the resources of this space, including the prescriptions and technological knowledge, to network and become a winner in high society, captivating the hearts of many.

Indeed, Yan Tong’s life in the book was incredibly enviable.

However, Fang Ziyang only sneered mockingly. The ending in the book only mentioned a grand wedding between Yan Tong and Fang Yandong, and nothing was said about their life after marriage. On the surface, it seemed beautiful indeed.

But having read the entire golden book, Fang Ziyang could predict that Yan Tong’s life after marriage would definitely not be as smooth as it was portrayed in the earlier parts of the book.

Because the fatal flaw of Yan Tong in the book was that due to his own lack of ability, he couldn’t learn the prescriptions and technological knowledge in the space. He could only give away the formulas and technological knowledge when forming collaborations with others.

How long can a boss stay secure in their position when they cannot independently control the core secrets of the company’s technology?

When it comes to profits, the prescriptions can be forgiven since it’s impossible for a pharmaceutical company to withhold formulas from its technical team for research.

But as for a technology company… heh, if the boss themselves is an outsider and solely relies on the efforts of technical experts, then they can expect to be sold out and even help others count the money.

At the time of reading the book, Fang Ziyang found it strange and wondered why Yan Tong, whom he knew, would make such a foolish decision.

Now that he had become the master of the space, he understood why.

Because this space was something passed down by the Lu family, intended for their own people, naturally, it had limitations!

According to the information left in the space, the Lu family indeed had a remarkable background. It is said that the ancestors of the Lu family were not originally from this planet but came from an interstellar era, similar to this one but with a civilization and technological advancement many times greater.

When the ancestors of the Lu family were piloting their spaceship through the universe, they were accidentally swept into a black hole and traversed to the ancient times of this planet.

Unable to return, the ancestors of the Lu family had no choice but to get married, have children, and settle down here for the rest of their lives. Before their passing, they entrusted their spatial artifact as a family heirloom, instructing their descendants to safeguard and carry on the legacy.

However, not everyone could use the contents of this spatial artifact. To learn the advanced technological knowledge within it, one not only needed to have an IQ of at least 180 but also had to be a person with Lu family blood running through their veins.

It wasn’t that the Lu ancestors deliberately favored their descendants, but due to the origins of their ancestors, the blood of the Lu family inherently carried a portion of the genetic inheritance from the higher intelligent planets. Many of the technological knowledge within the space could only be truly understood and learned by those with this genetic memory.

This is also why the Lu family consistently produced high IQ researchers. Their family genetic inheritance was enviable by anyone.

In the plot, although Yan Tong obtained the “cheat abilities,” he couldn’t truly and perfectly utilize them. The so-called prescriptions were actually various nutritional fluids from the interstellar era, and studying them carefully would undoubtedly yield substantial gains.

However, due to the lack of medicinal materials and the inability to understand the interstellar script without the genetic of the Lu family, the research results pieced together were only slightly more effective than the drugs available on the market, falling short of the astonishing effects described in the notes.

When it came to technology, Yan Tong couldn’t comprehend the information herself, so he had no choice but to take the risk and directly hand it over to others for research.

Initially, Yan Tong had considered seeking help from his uncle since he was also a member of the Lu family. Unfortunately, his uncle wasn’t fortunate enough to inherit the genetic advantage from the higher intelligent planets within the Lu family, so he couldn’t be of assistance…

In Yan Tong’s story, Fang Ziyang had no idea about his own situation as the main character in the book.

However, from the occasional scenes where Yan Tong sighed and worried, it could be inferred that even with the “cheat abilities” of the Lu family, Yan Tong would not have been able to utilize the information in the spatial artifact as smoothly without high intelligence and the unique genetic inheritance of the Lu family.

After all, the things he obtained were stolen and couldn’t be entirely to his satisfaction.

In fact, if it weren’t for the consideration of the Lu family ancestors to pass down the artifacts through generations and the removal of the anti-theft function of the spatial artifact, allowing anyone to claim and use it with a drop of blood, the cunning and deceitful Yan Tong would not have been able to benefit so easily.

After briefly looking through the contents of the spatial artifact, Fang Ziyang couldn’t help but let out a long sigh. This was truly a priceless treasure.

In his previous life, when he helplessly watched his uncle squander all the wealth of the old Lu family mansion, he couldn’t help but blame his grandfather countless times in his heart for his poor judgment. How could he have entrusted the mansion to his unreliable uncle, only to see it completely ruined now?

But now, he could only say one thing: he had misunderstood his grandfather. It wasn’t that his grandfather had poor judgment, but rather his judgment was too good!

It seemed that his grandfather had probably seen through his unreliable son early on, which was why he entrusted the ancestral jade pendant to his mother for safekeeping. He would rather let it benefit someone from another surname than take the risk of his uncle squandering it.

After all, regardless of the surname, as long as the blood and genes of the Lu family flowed within their bodies, they were still descendants of the Lu family. What did it matter if it was passed down through a daughter?

After being reborn, he already had a rough plan on how to deal with those enemies.

Now, with the resources from the spatial artifact, he was even more formidable.

Not only did he possess high intelligence to enter the field of scientific research, but he also had the special genetic inheritance of the Lu family. The impact these resources would have in his hands would be far greater than what Yan Tong could achieve in the plot.

Fang Ziyang felt very happy. After enduring so many unfortunate years in his previous life, he finally began to turn things around. After being reborn, one good thing happened after another.

However, Yan Tong’s constant concern about his “cheat abilities” was also a problem that needed to be solved. He needed to find a way to address it.

Holding a glass of water, Fang Ziyang pondered carefully.

After a while,

A perplexing smile appeared on his face.

Since Yan Tong desired his “cheat abilities” so much, he would give them to him. He just hoped that Yan Tong wouldn’t regret it in the future.

Meanwhile,

In a villa on the outskirts of Jiang City,

“Spew!”

Rick spat out his coffee, completely shocked by the sudden news. He couldn’t believe what kind of person would have the audacity to forcefully kiss Xie Zheng. It was truly unbelievable.

But amidst the shock, Rick found it more amusing. “Hahaha, so you mean if you don’t break off the engagement, he might actually crawl into your bed after they get married?”

“I don’t know.”

Xie Zheng sat across from him, answering coldly with a serious expression. He seemed as composed as ever, but upon closer inspection, one could detect a hint of unease beneath the surface.

For Xie Zheng, a perennial virgin, being forcefully kissed was an indescribable experience. Due to the curse of being a lone star since childhood, he hadn’t even touched the hands of those little girls or boys, let alone kissed anyone.

When he was young, he feared that something unfortunate would happen to his friends who got close to him. As he grew older, any thoughts of love and affection vanished completely. With the impressive feat of unintentionally causing the deaths of four fiancées, no one dared to tempt him with their lives on the line.

This not only made Xie Zheng’s personality even more aloof but also made him extremely traditional when it came to emotions. He carried an air of an old-fashioned strict patriarch.

Fang Ziyang kissed him without any hesitation, which was truly a monumental challenge to his worldview.

Just thinking about it made Xie Zheng feel a mix of embarrassment and anger. How could such a thing happen so casually?

That child is so young… It’s just not right.

Watching Rick laugh without any restraint, Xie Zheng’s serious face grew even colder. “Have you laughed enough?”

His cold and deep voice carried a strong sense of oppression.

Although they were around the same age, Xie Zheng, who was already the head of the Xie family, exuded an aura far stronger than Rick, who was still the heir of the family.

Rick used to consider himself fearless and dauntless, but ever since he met Xie Zheng and Tang Xun, his own right-hand man, he realized his own ignorance.

This person, at times, could be a pushover.

Upon hearing Xie Zheng’s words, Rick immediately closed his mouth, putting away his laughter, and dared not tease any further.

Xie Zheng then eased his cold demeanor and looked at Tang Xun, who had remained silent all this time. Though his tone remained serious, it carried more concern and admonition.

“Tang Xun, I will personally handle Fang Ziyang’s matter, and such incidents won’t happen again. However, it seems that he doesn’t need as much protection as you imagined. He has his own capabilities. I hope you seriously reconsider the idea of returning to the country for your development. Moreover, he is not suitable for you. Don’t do anything pointless anymore.”

Rick readily agreed with these words, nodding repeatedly in agreement.

“Yeah, Tang, Xie is right. That Fang Ziyang is completely unsuitable for you. You’ve done so much for him, and he doesn’t even appreciate it. He’s the kind of person who dares to take advantage of Xie. You don’t need a knight like that.”

“Tang, you need to look forward, look around you. It’s no longer trendy to silently and deeply devote yourself to someone. That’s destined to lead to unhappiness!”

Rick’s eyes and tone were filled with bitterness.

Tang Xun glanced at him without much reaction, simply pushed his glasses up and looked at Xie Zheng with a gentle smile.

“Boss, thank you for your kind intentions, but everyone needs something to protect and persist for. I promised that I would take care of him, and I won’t go back on my word.”

Here’s to hoping he’ll change his name in the future to Lu Ziyang! 🤞🤞
And now I’m wondering if Tang Xun is the ML and WHEN he promised this. Was it a forgotten childhood, or the previous life? The plot thickens…

    Thanks for the chapter!

    1. Kay says:

I think(/hope) he is the ML. Because if it’s that Xie Zheng, I’m dropping this even if the translation is well done, I like Ziyang’s faceslapping and the sudden element of interstellar people crashing in our modern day times.

      1. Sakuya-hime says:

Xie Zheng is definitely not earning any brownie points any time soon, which is… a choice.

My instinct tells me he’s the ML (what’s with the curse, kiss and all that), but I’m more than ready to jump ship immediately if anything remotely better shows up (which kinda did with Tang Xun).

I’m also really liking the plot.

    2. Elli says:

You took the words right out of my mouth. I also ship Lu Ziyang (I still don’t know, no more like, I forgot the name of my shipped ML 😂)

  2. Sakuya-hime says:

    Thanks for the chapter ~🌸

Why does it say Yan tong and Fang Yantong got married, isn’t that his dad…am I missing something? 😦

      1. Thingyan says:

No, you’re seeing it right. That green tea bitch really did marry Fang Yandong

      2. Sakuya-hime says:

        They are not really related.

In the “novel” Fang Yandong became interested in Yan Tong and was one of his suitors, then they found out they were supposedly father and son which I guess made things awkard, but it was all a lie so they got married…

In this life Fang Yandong doesn’t have a good impression of Yan Tong, plus he thought they were related from the start so there was no chance to make feelings grow.

  3. M&M's says:

Based on Tang Xun’s words, I’m guessing he’s a regressor like Fang Ziyang or he met the latter in their youth and promised to protect him, but why he never protected him in the past is a questionable concern.

On a side note, I feel really bad for Xie Zheng having such a “cursed” physique because he probably blames himself for all those coincidental deaths, even though it wasn’t his fault. Despite greatly disliking his indifference to Fang Ziyang’s problems both in the past and current life, I still hope he can find a “cure” for his ill-fated life because it’s what ultimately led to his current personality.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀

  4. Aiyo says:

I have suspicions that Tang Xun is either regressed, or he was the ML in the original novel (the one where Ziyang was the true protagonist, before Yan Tong’s arrival), or even both.

Xie Zheng has the cliche ML signs, sure, but my intuition still leans on Tang Xun more. He was perhaps the father of Ziyang’s child.
