Ch 197: The Cannon Fodder Won’t Play Along Anymore [QT]

Right now, the people of the Nato Kingdom are all demanding to return, but the royal family is unwilling and dispatched the army to suppress them.

Who would have thought that most of the soldiers in the army were also believers of the God of Earth and Nature, and were not willing to do so at all.

The Nato royal family then asked the Tianhai Empire for help, requesting them to send troops to suppress the rebellion within the kingdom.

The matter suddenly became complicated.

What was originally just the affair of the Naya people, with this action by the Nato royal family, not only enraged the commoners, but even many Nato nobles found it difficult to accept.

Now, the Tianhai Empire’s army is right at the border of the Nato Kingdom, and many Naya people believe this is the Tianhai Empire attempting to take the opportunity to annex Nato’s territory.

This is an offense against the Naya people, and even more so, an offense against the gods of the Naya.

In the past, at such times, the Vista Empire would have already taken action to suppress the Tianhai Empire, but this time, for some unknown reason, they made no move at all.

Perhaps, they are observing.

Observing what?

Observing how this awakened god will deal with the matter.

Mu Xing nodded: “I understand.”

Or waited for a while, but heard no movement.

He plucked up his courage and looked up, only to see the statue had already returned to its original appearance.

The god had already left.

Mu Xing prepared to go and talk with the God of Light.

Previously, that god had not left him with any memories; he only knew that the God of Light was a god with a pair of snow-white wings.

He returned to his own divine domain, preparing to visit the God of Light, but a guest came first.

The guest had a tall and powerful figure, messy golden short hair scattered freely, very handsome features, and every movement was filled with strength and masculinity.

The little sprites of the divine domain were intimidated by the divine might, trembling and hiding among the flowers and leaves, not daring to make a sound.

He looked at Mu Xing with a complex gaze, and after a long while, muttered in a low voice: “You carry Galia’s aura, but you are not him.”

Mu Xing instantly understood who this was.

He curiously glanced at the other party and nodded: “Hello, God of War and Beasts.”

It was said this one preferred to be called Beast God, because his true form was the only golden lion in this world, and every strand of his fur shone brilliantly like gold.

The Beast God’s gaze swept across the divine domain and said: “Your divine domain still has that same feeling, very comfortable.”

Mu Xing couldn’t gauge his intention.

After becoming a god, although he obtained much inherited memory, all of it was about how to better be a god.

He did not know much about the two gods of this world.

And from the tone of the Beast God, it seemed he and the fallen god had quite a good relationship?

He curiously asked: “Beast God, why have you come to my divine domain?”

The Beast God looked at him displeased, snorted: “No reason, I just wanted to come. Can’t I?”

He muttered: “Galia would never have asked me such a stupid question before.”

Mu Xing: ?

He was very confused, and thought this Beast God might have something wrong with his head.

Wasn’t this their first meeting? Yet it already felt so overly familiar?

Seeing his expression, the Beast God was just about to say something, when suddenly a melodious voice came from the sky:

“He is just a brainless, tongue-tied stupid lion. Newly born God of Earth, do not take him too seriously.”

Mu Xing raised his head at the sound.

A sacred pillar of light descended from the sky.

He heard pure music and singing, and crystal flowers, thin as cicada wings, floated down from the pillar of light.

A radiant figure slowly formed within the pillar.

He possessed unparalleled beauty, silver hair gathering the brilliance of the sun, moon, and stars, and blue eyes clearer and more moving than the purest sky.

He had a pair of flawless snow-white wings, elegantly spreading behind him.

Exquisite ornaments of gold, gems, and pearls adorned his hair and robes, yet in the presence of the purest light, they seemed so dim they had no luster at all.

Mu Xing watched in awe as this God of Light stepped down from midair, surrounded by several small angels holding instruments, each with two little wings on their backs, playing with abandon—the light music came from them.

What a perfect, dazzling god.

“Hmph, gaudy and showy.” A cold snort broke the perfect atmosphere.

It was the Beast God standing at the side.

The God of Light raised his hand gracefully, and the little angels quieted down, hand in hand, flapping their wings, flying off to play with the sprites.

Mu Xing froze for a moment, thinking, what kind of day is this, why are these two—oh, two gods—both here?

The exceedingly beautiful God of Light cast a haughty glance at the Beast God: “A fool like you will never understand what beauty and art are.”

The Beast God retorted: “I don’t understand, no. I only think the way you flap your wings and scatter feathers in panic when I beat you up looks quite beautiful.”

Mu Xing: “…”

God of Light: “…”

The elegant God of Light’s expression cracked for a second, then he sneered: “You are not only brainless, but also crude and rude. No wonder Brother Galia only liked me.”

The Beast God’s eyes widened: “Nonsense! Galia clearly liked me the most! He never minded me rolling around in his divine domain.”

Mu Xing: “…??”

He looked at the two gods in confusion.

The next second, his right hand was pulled by a beautiful hand.

The God of Light tilted his head, his blue eyes full of melancholy, gazing at him: “Newborn god, do you think there is even the slightest imperfection in me? Could it be that in this world, there is truly a god who would dislike me, and instead like a big dumb lion?”

“Hmph!”

The Beast God said proudly: “I have the most beautiful fur in this world. Galia himself praised my beast form as mighty and unmatched, the most magnificent lion he had ever seen.”

Mu Xing noticed the faint look in both their eyes settling on him, as if they wanted him to pass judgment.

He thought deeply: Could it be, the former God of Earth was some sort of womanizer? Keeping the two most powerful gods in this world in his own fishpond?

But… but what does that have to do with him?

He was just an innocent, weak, newborn god.

Seeing that Mu Xing didn’t speak, and his expression was dazed, the God of Light finally remembered—though they shared the same godhood, the one before him was not the brother he had cherished for thousands of years.

His expression dimmed for an instant, then returned to perfection.

He said softly: “We were only playing a little joke with you, God of Earth. Please don’t take offense.”

Mu Xing shook his head.

Perhaps because these two gods had just revealed too much “humanity” in front of him—something not befitting gods—it closed the distance between them, and he suddenly felt much closer to them.

With a wave of his hand, a splendid table and chairs appeared on the grass.

Little sprites poured amber wine into golden cups for the three supreme gods of the world.

The God of Beasts raised his cup, looked at it with nostalgia, and drained it in one gulp.

“A familiar taste… though it should be a bit stronger,” he muttered.

The God of Light sipped gently, praising: “I taste the sweet fragrance of a hundred flowers. Truly enchanting.”

Mu Xing asked curiously: “May I know why the two of you came here…”

The God of Light glanced at him, smiling tenderly: “You needn’t worry. The Beast God and I merely came to see you, nothing more.”

The Beast God nodded: “Since you were born, you are our companion. In this world, only we can accompany each other for eternity. God of Earth, we mean no harm.”

The God of Light added: “Besides, you have awakened the godhood of Earth.”

As they spoke, the God of Light and the Beast God looked at each other, then turned away in mutual distaste.

Mu Xing, catching this scene: “…”

You two aren’t the God of Beasts and the God of Light, you’re the Silly God and the Schoolyard God, aren’t you?

Mu Xing suddenly grew curious about the former God of Earth—the one who could make these two gods behave like this.

He understood: the reason they were so unreserved and relaxed before him was absolutely connected to his godhood.

Even when holding a cup of wine in one hand and resting his chin on the other, the God of Light remained perfectly elegant.

He looked at Mu Xing with a nostalgic smile: “Galia, like you, had a very gentle nature.”

At the beginning of this world, only three gods existed.

Galia was the firstborn, the elder brother among them.

He held the godhood of Earth, and his temperament, like his godhood, was gentle and tolerant.

The God of Light and the God of Beasts were born almost at the same time.

One, born of war—impulsive, hot-tempered, worshipping strength.

One, born of light—noble, elegant, seeking perfection, intolerant of any flaw.

They were naturally incompatible.

From the moment of their birth, they had been in constant conflict.

The only common point was that both revered their elder brother.

And the only one who could stop their disputes was the God of Earth.

Later, the three gods each created their divine realms and together gave birth to the races.

These races developed different faiths, and countless conflicts arose between them because of those differences.

Yet the truth was, the gods their followers worshiped did not actually hate each other as they imagined.

On the contrary, they were the closest companions in this world, who had accompanied each other for millions of years.

When the orcs of the Vista Empire fought the Naya for food, their great god was actually rolling around in beast form in the God of Earth’s realm.

Gods were supposed to be immortal. This was what Mu Xing had learned from his inherited memory.

“Then,” he asked in confusion, “why did the former God of Earth… fall?”

The air froze for a moment.

The God of Light said quietly: “Because of desire.”

Even gods have joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness. How much more so mortals?

As people multiplied, so did their desires.

Countless negative emotions and cravings piled together and formed another god—one outside the three.

The God of Desire was not a god of law.

At first, the gods did not care much, even treating him as a companion.

They underestimated desire.

Watching them hold supreme status and countless believers, the God of Desire turned his own divine power upon himself.

He wished to slay gods, to replace the three gods of law, and become the one supreme god.

The Beast God was hot-blooded and combative, the God of Light could not tolerate flaws—how could they endure such provocation? They had been at ease in the highest seat too long and never truly regarded the upstart god as a threat. They were no match for the God of Desire, master of countless schemes.

The God of Light drained his cup.

A trace of light fell from the corner of his eye, passed through the Earth God’s realm, and hung in the sky of the mortal world, becoming an undying star.

Gods cannot shed tears.

“Galia, our elder brother, fell because of us.”
