Ch 83: My Wolf Husband Feb 23 2025February 23, 2025 The vast expanse of forests stretched endlessly, reflecting the sky and water. The river meandered on, its surface rippling gently. But the most beautiful landscapes often concealed the most unpredictable dangers. Nature harbored countless perils, hidden beneath its breathtaking serenity. Lin Shuishi had always held deep reverence for these forces beyond human control. Uneasy, he turned back, his heart thudding as he anxiously asked Fuli— Where was the bear? After days of relentless rain, the entire riverbank had transformed. If even the terrain had shifted, what would happen to that gluttonous, clumsy little creature? Lin Shuishi patted Fuli’s chest. Seeing his mate’s serious expression, the man lifted his head, his golden pupils contracting. His gaze sharpened, ears twitching slightly as he listened carefully to every sound around them. Lin Shuishi, wrapped in Fuli’s increasingly beast-like embrace, couldn’t help but reach out and stroke his face. A strange, almost dreamlike feeling washed over him—he was holding a being that was not human. And yet, they had created life together. Their child might even be born soon. Fuli’s broad, powerful back tensed as his keen senses scoured the dense forest. His deep, piercing gaze searched every shadow, not even missing the water’s reflection. Then, tilting his head, he took a long breath, his high nose catching scents in the air. Lin Shuishi was still scanning their surroundings when, suddenly, he felt Fuli tighten his grip. Before he could react, the man leapt up, soaring effortlessly through the thick canopy, weaving through the branches with incredible agility. The trees here had a vast height difference, making Lin Shuishi feel as though he were riding a living, breathing rollercoaster. Before he could even let out a cry of surprise, they had already landed smoothly atop an enormous, ancient tree. It was likely the oldest and tallest among the surrounding giants, its long branches draping down into the flooded waters below, offering sanctuary to countless small creatures stranded by the flood. Fuli gently set Lin Shuishi down on a thick, stable branch—sturdy enough that he could even walk across it. Seeing that Fuli had placed him here, Lin Shuishi figured the little bear must be nearby. He hesitated before calling out, “Black Bear Spirit? Xiao Hei? You little rascal?” He had called it by so many random names before—who knew which one the bear actually recognized? After a moment, rustling sounds came from the treetops above. The little black bear had left its mother too early and hadn’t yet mastered all the skills it needed to survive. This was its first rainy season! It had no idea the river could rise boundlessly, swallowing the land. It had woken up in its tree hollow to find itself nearly submerged and had panicked, scrambling higher and higher into the canopy. Then, when the storm had finally passed, it had looked down— And realized it was stuck. But true to its bear logic—if you fall somewhere, the best way to recover is to eat something—it had simply munched on every leaf within reach, leaving the once-lush tree looking pitifully bald. After days of eating nothing but leaves, the little bear was growing sick of them. It missed the honey that the two-legged creature used to feed it—so sweet! Clutching the tree trunk, its expression was one of pure misery. Then, suddenly, its ears perked up, swiveling in rapid circles before its eyes shot wide open. It nearly slipped in excitement. Hearing Lin Shuishi’s voice, it immediately let out a deafening cry. “Ah! Ah! Waaaahhh!” Fuli’s sensitive ears twitched from the noise, making him shake his head in irritation. Lin Shuishi instinctively clapped his hands over his ears—Why were baby bears so loud? And after eating leaves for days, it was even louder than usual! Fuli frowned, leapt up a branch, and grabbed the bear by the scruff of its neck. With a single hand, he clamped its gaping mouth shut, silencing its howls. Lin Shuishi exhaled in relief. It looked fine—still plump, even. With nowhere else to put it, Fuli simply held the cub by the scruff in one hand and carried his small, soft mate in the other. Then, effortlessly, he leapt across the waterlogged river forest, heading straight for the dry mountain ridge where the wolf den lay. The little black bear, however, hated being carried like this. But Fuli’s grip was firm, and it dared not struggle, instead letting out muffled, pitiful grunts. Lin Shuishi leaned against Fuli’s chest, reaching over to stroke the bear’s fur. “What’s wrong?” As if it had found its protector, the little bear instantly opened its mouth again— “Ah! Ah! Waaaahhh!” “Oh, come on!” Lin Shuishi quickly covered his ears. Fuli tsk-ed in annoyance and very nearly let go. Let it fall, then! In the distance, across the misty red clouds of the flooded valley, a massive silver-white divine wolf leapt effortlessly from branch to branch, its pristine fur billowing in the post-rain breeze. It moved like a celestial beast walking on air, powerful and untouchable. A golden stripe ran from the corner of its eye to the tip of its ear, exuding both ferocity and an undeniable divine presence. But atop the great wolf’s back sat a visibly pregnant young man, looking completely unimpressed. Behind him, a small, pitch-black bear cub clung for dear life, trembling. Terrified by the scent of the massive predator, the bear didn’t dare make a sound. Its dark paws clutched the two-legged creature tightly, its head pressed pitifully against Lin Shuishi’s back. And yet, whether out of instinct or some unknown beastly intuition, it carefully retracted its sharp claws, softening its grip so that only the pads of its paws touched the human’s body. Cautiously, it placed a paw against Lin Shuishi’s belly. Then—something inside moved. Startled, the bear cub flinched, its paw spreading wide in shock before hesitantly pressing down again. Lin Shuishi, noticing how suddenly the little bear had gone still, assumed it was just intimidated by Fuli. He said nothing, simply watching as the bear’s small paws flexed and relaxed against his stomach. Inside his belly, something moved in response. One on the outside, one on the inside—the two little ones had started playing through the barrier of his skin. By the time they reached the grasslands beneath the wolf den’s mountain ridge, Fuli shifted back into his human form. Without hesitation, he grabbed the little black bear—who was still clinging to Lin Shuishi—and tossed it onto the soft grass. The cub tumbled a few times before landing in a daze. Fuli didn’t even look back. Taking Lin Shuishi’s hand, he led him into the den. He had to continue expanding their home. According to the laws of the wolf pack, his offspring were about to be born. The rainy season was when all mother wolves had abundant food and milk. His duty was to protect his mate and ensure they had a safe and comfortable environment. Lin Shuishi sat on a pile of furs, nibbling on a warm bird egg that Fuli had boiled for him in the hot springs. Watching Fuli, who was too focused on his “great excavation project” to listen to reason, he shook his head with a sigh. Fine. Let him dig. Maybe male wolves got nesting anxiety too. Since he didn’t have any of that so-called “nesting anxiety,” Lin Shuishi got up, walked to the storage shelf, and opened a jar of honey. He was about to scoop out an extra spoonful when he suddenly recalled Fuli drenched from head to toe in rain just to fetch this for him. This honey wasn’t easy to come by, he thought. Better not be greedy. Carrying the honey bowl, Lin Shuishi headed outside, planning to bring the poor little bear a treat. But before he could even take two steps, he was immediately surrounded by a pack of eager little wolf pups. Especially the twelve newborns of the Wolf King—barely able to walk yet, they wobbled over to him, swaying unsteadily on their tiny legs, looking up at him with round, expectant eyes. “Owooo~ owooo~” they yipped softly, tails wagging. Lin Shuishi could not resist this. He sighed, crouched down, and dipped a finger into the honey, dotting each tiny pup’s nose with sweetness. They were so soft. So warm. So tiny. Maybe, one day, his own little one would look just like this. Lin Shuishi, the mate of the pack leader, had long been under the wolves’ watchful eyes. The leader’s mate was finally expecting. The only question now was—when could they sneak a taste of that milk? Once that happened, their lives as wolves would be complete… Lin Shuishi, however, was completely unaware of the lurking dangers among the wolves. Nor did he realize the true intentions of these little fluffy creatures. He was still grinning foolishly as he fed them honey. By the time he finally managed to escape their siege, he still had more than half a bowl of honey left. Walking toward the edge of the mountain ridge, where wolf pups were not allowed to approach, he was just about to head downhill—only to realize how inconvenient his body had become. This was where the sharp instincts of the forty-something-year-old white wolves came into play. A tall mother wolf, wise and perceptive, gracefully padded to Lin Shuishi’s side, lowering her head and gazing up at him with clear, watery blue eyes. Lin Shuishi didn’t stand on ceremony. He had long grown familiar with these massive, furry creatures, seeing them every day without fail. In fact, he could even recognize each of the hundred-plus wolves in the pack. This particular one was the younger sister of the Wolf King’s mate. “Thank you! I’ll make something delicious for you next time!” But the mother wolf wasn’t expecting thanks—perhaps, just maybe, she could nurse his cubs one day? Fortunately, Lin Shuishi didn’t understand wolf language, so he had no idea what she was thinking! With swift and agile steps, the mother wolf carried Lin Shuishi down the mountain. From a distance, he spotted Xiao Hei, the little black bear, rolling across the ground in a tangle of fur with a white figure. A black blur. A white blur. Tumbling together, they rolled right to Lin Shuishi’s feet. Only then did he see clearly—it was the young white wolf who had just returned from hunting lessons with the pack. The two little playmates, who hadn’t seen each other in a long time, were excitedly catching up. But the moment the white wolf caught a whiff of Lin Shuishi’s scent, it froze, instantly springing apart from the bear and rolling to Lin Shuishi’s feet, rubbing against him affectionately. For a moment, Lin Shuishi couldn’t help but think—the little guy had really grown up. Even the way it acted spoiled now had a hint of sleaziness to it… The young wolf, however, was oblivious to being disliked. Catching the sweet scent of honey, it sat down at Lin Shuishi’s feet in the same upright, expectant posture it had when it was a pup—mouth open wide, waiting to be fed. Completely unaware of how terrifying its now fully grown fangs looked. When Lin Shuishi didn’t move right away, the little wolf wiggled its once-plump, now muscular body, stomped its foot, and urged him on. Hurry up! Put it in my mouth! But before it could taste the honey, its ever-reliable father, the Wolf King, sent it flying with a well-aimed kick. The young wolf sighed in resignation and obediently followed its father home. The sight of the white wolf pack returning to the den was nothing short of majestic. Dozens of massive, powerful wolves, sleek and regal, leapt down from the snow-capped peaks, streaking across the grasslands as they made their way back to the mountain ridge. The little black bear, seeing the overwhelming sight, trembled and hid behind Lin Shuishi. It had made a grave miscalculation. Because every wolf that returned to the den stopped by Lin Shuishi’s side first, pausing to greet him. Lin Shuishi, used to the routine, simply reached out and patted each one, watching as they swiftly ascended to the mountain’s peak. Only when the last of the wolves had returned did he finally get the chance to bring the half-bowl of honey to the little black bear. The bear cub looked somewhat listless. Lin Shuishi frowned, realizing that letting it stay here wasn’t a long-term solution. He needed to find its mother—this little bear was so useless, it couldn’t even steal food properly, let alone survive on its own! The little bear clutched the honey bowl in its paws, looking downcast. Lin Shuishi sighed, thought for a moment, then straightened his posture, puffing out his belly, and patted the bear on the head. “Alright, go ahead and touch it.” Soft, chubby bear paws pressed against his belly, which rose and fell with the movements of the cub inside. The little black bear’s black bean-like eyes widened, and suddenly, its paws spread open in shock. Excitement! Pure, unfiltered joy!
