Ch 118: The World’s Number One Resort

“This… sir, does sky bungee jumping meet safety standards?” The group exchanged uneasy glances, and finally, the blond-haired guy stepped forward to ask. At this point, they were only thirty meters from the edge of Sky Island. The chilly wind below made them fear being blown off accidentally.

“Thud, thud—”

The middle-aged man did not respond directly but instead pointed to the nearby signboard. Only then did the group notice that beneath the signboard was a detailed guide to sky bungee jumping. In short, thanks to the advanced research and development by the FillTech Company, sky bungee jumping posed no safety issues.

They looked toward the edge, where a silver pillar stood on the right side of the parasol. A bungee cord was fastened to the pillar, and next to it was a simple changing room. The whole setup for the bungee jump seemed… rather basic.

Thirty dollars with an additional 20% discount wasn’t a high price. However, as a new activity, sky bungee jumping made everyone nervous. After some hesitation, no one dared to go forward.

After all, this was literally risking their lives for tourism, and they weren’t ready for that.

As they murmured among themselves, the blond-haired guy, confident and bold, walked toward the cliff’s edge.

Holding a selfie stick, he aimed to capture a bird’s-eye view. But as he extended the stick, it hit something soft and jelly-like, similar to pressing on a yoga ball.

He pulled the selfie stick back and cautiously moved closer. Three seconds later, he was only five meters from the cliff’s edge. Up close, he noticed there was indeed a layer of transparent gel-like material at the edge, similar to the protective barriers in Bianjing Ancient City.

“Hey… you’d better come back,” someone from the group called out nervously. They were genuinely afraid he might fall.

“Bang—”

Ignoring them, the blond-haired guy removed his phone from the selfie stick and threw it toward the cliff.

“Ah!”

“Wait, don’t… oh my god!”

Gasps and exclamations came from the group. They had intended to scold him for his reckless action, but then they froze. The phone hit what seemed like a feather net, was stopped by the jelly-like barrier, and bounced back onto the platform.

“Bianjing Ancient City,” the blond-haired guy remarked as he picked up his phone.

The others understood what he meant. Bianjing’s unique feature was its twentyfold-sized giant statues that looked dangerous, but the edges of beds and streets were equipped with jelly-like protective barriers. It was the signature safety measure of Bianjing Ancient City, and what they saw here was exactly the same.

Everyone quickly pulled out the details of Sky Island from their access cards.

Sure enough, there was a section labeled “Sky Protection.” According to the information, the protective net was ten meters high and could withstand a force of up to twenty tons. Even if someone deliberately jumped off, they wouldn’t be in any danger.

The group read through every detail, word by word, very carefully.

“Is this for real?”

After reading, they felt a bit dazed. According to the description, even if they jumped off the cliff, they would be safe? Considering this, the tourists turned around. By the stone pillar, there was a specially designed bungee suit connected to the bungee cord. This suit could pass through the protective net.

It became clear to them: jumping off wasn’t as easy as it seemed…

In just a short time, their emotions felt like they had been on a roller coaster, with twists and turns. Although they were reassured by the net’s functionality, jumping off a cliff or bungee jumping still seemed too extreme. The group wandered around for a while before deciding to leave “Brave Warrior” the way they had come.

“Treasure life, let’s find something else to do instead.”

“Oh my god, it’s a forest! How was this built?”

“An entire floating forest… it’s kind of unbelievable.”

The group returned to the No. 2 elevator. There were quite a few new visitors coming up, as the first and second elevators near the Sky Forest entrance were the primary choices for most tourists.

The newcomers had expressions of awe, just like Gu Jiao and her group had when they first arrived. There was a sense of thrilling time travel in the air. The new visitors looked around in wonder before heading toward “Brave Warrior” with curiosity, just as the others had done earlier. Gu Jiao had a peculiar look on her face, quite curious about the expressions of the new visitors when they saw the sky bungee jump.

“Shall we go back and take another look?” Chen Gang suggested, opening a bottle of mineral water. He was just as curious as Gu Jiao.

“Nah, let’s explore a bit more,” Gu Jiao replied, accepting the water bottle. The group had now dispersed, and everyone was exploring on their own.

After drinking two sips, Gu Jiao and Chen Gang started down the right path.

Orioles, squirrels, deer… Over the next half hour, Gu Jiao felt as if she had stepped into a real-life enchanted forest. The Sky Forest was mainly greenery, but it also featured various animals and unique plant species.

They wandered for half an hour without feeling the slightest bit bored; it was a refreshing cleanse for the soul.

Gu Jiao took a lot of photos along the way. Since it was 10 p.m. in China, her classmates from Economics and Management Class 1 were either gaming, spending time with their partners, or just relaxing.

After selecting a few of the best photos, Gu Jiao sent them to the class group chat.

“Holy, that’s such a massive glass floor! Ten kilometers, maybe? Why is there light beneath? It’s like some tech empire.”

“Oh my god, are those special effects? Jiao, where are you? Are you flying?”

“Someone pour me a glass of cold water; this looks so thrilling with all that empty space around!”

The chat erupted as soon as Gu Jiao posted the pictures. Even the previously quiet members of the group chat were now joining in.

While the ice castle and the ancient city of Bianjing were stunning, the others had seen plenty of such sights online before. They had somewhat prepared themselves for Gu Jiao’s photos. But now, seeing this giant blue-lit glass surface, with views from a thousand meters up and the vast empty surroundings… it felt like their worldview was getting an upgrade.

“Sky Forest, just opened on Sora Island. Big enough of a surprise?” Gu Jiao replied in the chat. After all, she had promised to show something epic.

“666!”

“[Shocked emoji]”

“Thanks, Sister Jiao!”

Gu Jiao was well-liked, so everyone responded with playful comments. Sky Forest was a brand-new attraction, and her classmates were getting a first-hand tour through her.

It felt… pretty awesome.

After chatting for a bit, Gu Jiao put away her phone and continued exploring.

“Oh my god…” They walked through the forest and crossed a small hill. Upon seeing the scene before them, they were stunned.

They were standing on a hill over 300 meters high, looking out at a plain below that spanned five square kilometers, encircled by small hills. The hill they were on was covered with green shrubs; directly across from them was a fiery red maple forest, to the left was a dazzling cherry blossom grove, and to the right was a pure white icy mountain.

Maple forest, cherry blossoms, an ice mountain… Along with the green shrubs at their feet, they formed the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. As for the plain… it housed a fairytale castle straight out of a fantasy story.

The castle’s main color was red, entwined with vibrant green vines. It couldn’t have looked more magical.

Gu Jiao quickly took out her phone and snapped a series of pictures. If the ice castle was like a cold, regal queen, then this castle resembled a lively, cheerful young girl.

“Should we go down and check it out?” After taking the pictures, Gu Jiao put her phone away, feeling a surge of excitement. Her inner child was completely captivated.

Chen Gang naturally agreed.

The two began to head down the hill with light steps.

“Creak, creak—”

“Who dares trespass in the Sky Kingdom?”

They had barely taken a few steps when they heard faint footsteps and then a stern shout from afar.

Looking up, they saw five Western men in red knight armor walking toward them.

“Were you sent by the rebels?” The leader, a man in his thirties with clear British features judging by his nose and posture, spoke as he planted a long red spear into the ground.

Gu Jiao, Chen Gang: “???”

“COS?” Gu Jiao asked uncertainly.

The British knight glanced at her, then signaled to the soldiers beside him.

Before they could react, Gu Jiao and Chen Gang were tied up and led towards the castle by the soldiers.

Gu Jiao, Chen Gang: “What’s going on?”

“Jimmy, hold onto your backpack.”

“If you get lost, make sure to ask the staff for help.”

While tourists were having a blast on Sky Island, the Great Tang No. 2 had finally entered the Sora Island area after a two-day voyage across the Pacific. The ship arrived three hours ahead of schedule, and now the passengers were preparing their luggage and lining up to disembark.

In Cabin A-12, Jon was packing their luggage while advising Jimmy.

At that moment, Jimmy was like an excited monkey, peeking out of the doorway and eagerly looking around.

Jon closed the cabin door and led Jimmy up to the deck. In the brief moment they had been inside, the Great Tang No. 2 had already sailed into Sora Island’s harbor.

“Is this really Sora Island?” Jimmy exclaimed, his mouth wide open in shock. He had visited Sora Island once last year, and his impression of the harbor was a yellow-brown canyon, reminiscent of scenes from Wild West Adventures.

But now, there was a silver beach at the landing point, a 50-meter-tall windmill behind it, and a colorful town beyond that.

Jimmy felt like his brain couldn’t process what he was seeing.

“It is, it’s Sora Island…” Jon replied, equally stunned by the scene. He had seen recent photos of Sora Island and knew it had developed well, but seeing it in person was quite different. If it weren’t for the identical reef formations as last year, Jon would have thought they had arrived at the wrong place.

“Oh my god, Pacific Warmth was shot right on that rock!”

“Is this the filming location of Serene Island? It’s beautiful.”

Half a minute later, the Great Tang No. 2 dropped anchor. The tourists who had been waiting inside the ship now came out with their luggage. Seeing the scene in front of them, they had the same reaction as Jon. They were here because of the works Green of White, Pacific Warmth, and Serene Island. Naturally, they started comparing the view with the award-winning scenes.

The gangway was lowered, and everyone disembarked in an orderly manner, full of anticipation for the journey ahead.

“Is Hu Zongyou still acting like a big shot? Fine, replace him with another guest. It’s only two months until summer break; Treasure Travel must be filmed by the end of this month. Has Sora Island been contacted?”

While Great Tang Resort was running smoothly, things were not as calm at Luohai TV station in China, where the Treasure Travel show team was facing challenges. After Wang Lu and Zhang Min held a helicopter live broadcast at Great Tang Resort earlier this year, the station’s higher-ups decided that the first episode of Treasure Travel‘s third season would be filmed at Great Tang Resort.

Since this was an overseas shoot, the station needed to renegotiate contracts with the celebrity parent-child pairs. The original plan was to shoot in early April, but the process got delayed until mid-April. Adding to the complications, Hu Zongyou, who had initially agreed, started demanding more payment due to scheduling conflicts.

Liu Ke, the chief director of Treasure Travel, was extremely frustrated.

It was already April 3rd, and considering the filming, post-production, and coordination needed to finish by mid-June, time was tight.

“I’m asking you, did you contact them?” Liu Ke repeated, his temper flaring as he saw no one responding.

“I sent an email,” the assistant snapped to attention and replied hurriedly. It was actually handled by Manager Wang, who had just resigned, leaving things a bit unclear.

“Did you get a reply?” Liu Ke frowned. This assistant was too clueless; everything had to be asked twice.

The assistant: “?” He didn’t know.

“The email failed to send…”

The assistant called Manager Wang. Three minutes later, he returned with a look of distress. Due to recent personnel changes, performance reforms, celebrity contract re-signings, and Hu Zongyou’s withdrawal, the Treasure Travel team was in complete disarray. It wasn’t until this crucial moment that they realized they had never contacted Great Tang Resort.

After the assistant explained, the entire conference room fell silent.

The pencil in Liu Ke’s hand snapped in two.

Liu Ke had assumed that communication had been mostly settled, leaving only the final discussions on fees and scheduling. What was this now? They had confirmed the celebrity guests, but forgot to secure the filming location?

This was a major blunder! A severe and elementary mistake!
