Ch 113: The Malevolent Monster Just Wants To Farm Nov 27 2024November 27, 2024 Jiang Lin congratulated the two demons and asked what they planned to do next. Biluo replied, “My sister and I have decided that we’ll first have some fun in the human world!” White Snake nodded in agreement. Jiang Lin nodded as well, saying, “You’ve spent these past few hundred years in secluded cultivation on the mountain, rarely venturing into the human world. The world has changed a lot; it’s good for you to go and see it.” He noticed that while he said this, Biluo’s eyes sparkled with excitement, but Bai Suzhen’s expression carried a hint of melancholy and nostalgia. It was clear what she was thinking about. Biluo cheerfully added, “Once we’ve had our fun in the human world, I’ll return to Donghua Mountain to cultivate diligently and strive to become an immortal as soon as possible!” Bai Suzhen, however, hesitated for a moment before saying, “I want to go find my benefactor.” Biluo tilted her head and said, “Then I’ll accompany you, sister.” The two demons bid farewell to Jiang Lin and transformed into beams of light, disappearing from sight. Bai Suzhen still couldn’t let go. The first thing she did after descending the mountain was visit the place where Xu Xuan had passed away. Five hundred years had passed, and the small courtyard was long gone. Using her memory, she found Xu Xuan’s grave. The area had turned into a desolate mountain, the grave covered by layers of vegetation, and the inscriptions on the tombstone were barely legible. Bai Suzhen cleared away the overgrowth and piled fresh earth onto the grave. She didn’t burn any incense; after five hundred years, Xu Xuan’s soul had undoubtedly reincarnated many times, unable to receive any offerings. “Benefactor, I can now take human form,” she softly said to the tombstone. There was no one to respond to her. After staying there for a while, she left with Biluo. The two demons wandered through the human world for several months. Once they’d had their fill of fun and returned to Donghua Mountain, they were promptly chased away by Jiang Lin. “What’s the point of just cultivating in this mountain?” Jiang Lin waved them off. “Go find a place in the human world to live, imagine yourself as an ordinary person, and live out a lifetime. Truly experiencing the joys and sorrows of the human world will benefit your cultivation.” “But,” Bai Suzhen asked, confused, “why do you stay in the mountains all the time?” Jiang Lin: ⦠Because I’ve already experienced everything countless times over. But some things were best left unsaid. He simply replied, “I have my own unique way of cultivating.” Biluo suddenly chimed in, “Is your unique cultivation method dual cultivation with Brother Zong Yu?” Jiang Lin nearly choked. “What dual cultivation? Where did you hear that?” Biluo blinked and replied, “In human storybooks! They say that anyone who cultivates, whether human, deity, demon, or ghost, can engage in dual cultivation with their partner for double the results.” Jiang Lin sternly said, “Stop reading those storybooks; they’re full of nonsense.” Biluo looked skeptical. “Is dual cultivation also nonsense?” Zong Yu couldn’t help but chuckle, noticing Jiang Lin’s slightly embarrassed expression. He stepped in and said, “Alright, whether it’s nonsense or not, you can find out for yourselves later.” The moment he spoke, Biluo fell silent. Both Bai Suzhen and Biluo had a natural fear of Zong Yu, a feeling that made them want to keep their distance, far less relaxed than when they were around Jiang Lin. But they listened to Jiang Lin’s advice, found a lively place, bought a large house, and genuinely started living the life of ordinary people. Bai Suzhen never gave up searching for the reincarnation of Xu Xuan. However, whether due to fate or some other reason, she couldn’t find him. For demons, life spans are incredibly long. Although they lived among humans, they didn’t need to toil for a living as mortals did, leaving them with plenty of time to enjoy life and learn new things. In the blink of an eye, several hundred years passed. The world saw a change in dynasties, and the small city where they lived went through a war, was rebuilt several times, and their neighbors had changed countless times. Jiang Lin had been keeping an eye on Bai Suzhen and Biluo, curious to see how the story would unfold. Bai Suzhen had achieved human form centuries earlier than expected. If she found Xu Xuan’s reincarnation, he certainly wouldn’t be Xu Xuan. Yet, the story seemed to have a powerful pull, ensuring that Bai Suzhen couldn’t find the person she was looking for, even after centuries. Finally, the correct time arrived. Jiang Lin, somewhat deliberately, sent a letter to Bai Suzhen and Biluo, asking them to return to Donghua Mountain. But within two days, he received a reply from Biluo. She wrote that they were currently in a place where, on their way back to Donghua Mountain, they would pass through Hangzhou. Since they had visited West Lake many years ago and found it beautiful, they thought it would be a good opportunity to see it again before returning to Donghua Mountain. Jiang Lin frowned. Suddenly, a hand reached over his shoulder. Seeing that Jiang Lin didn’t object, the hand took the letter brought by the white crane and read it. “Those two sistersāare they the ones you’re supposed to ‘take care of’ this time?” Zong Yu asked. He had been with Jiang Lin long enough to have figured out some of what was going on. Jiang Lin replied, “You could say that.” Zong Yu then asked, “You don’t seem too worried. Does that mean your task is done?” Jiang Lin nodded. “This time, it was quite simple.” Zong Yu immediately changed his expression, reaching out to hug him. “Then you can spend more time with me⦔ Jiang Lin raised his hand, blocking the embrace, and raised an eyebrow, “Stop being so clingy. I’m going to cook.” Zong Yu hesitated for a moment, torn between his options, but ultimately decided that hugging Jiang Lin was more appealing, and quickly said, “I can skip the meal!” Jiang Lin turned away, not even bothering to give the overly affectionate big pillow a glance, “But I want to eat.” As Jiang Lin walked away, Zong Yu felt a deep sense of grievance: Even though they were together, Jiang Lin still maintained that calm, indifferent demeanor. Only in certain moments did he reveal a different side. But once the clothes were back on, it was as if nothing had happened. Truly heartless. “Sister, it’s raining.” Cool drops of water brushed against her cheek, and Bai Suzhen looked up to see that the sky had indeed darkened. “Let’s go buy two umbrellas.” There was a shop nearby selling oil-paper umbrellas, and after paying, they bought the umbrellas but didnāt hurry back. The rain was light, like a fine mist, and after a while, the entire West Lake seemed to be enveloped in a thin layer of fog, giving it a dreamy, ethereal quality. The surrounding trees and plants, drenched in rain, appeared even more vibrant and green. Bai Suzhen smiled and said, “I think the West Lake looks even more beautiful after the rain. Let’s not rush back, let’s walk a bit longer.” Monsters, of course, didn’t fear getting wet. Biluo had suggested returning earlier only because she noticed the other pedestrians hurrying along the road. Now, after hearing Bai Suzhen, she found the idea agreeable. There were fewer people on the streets, most of them hurrying by, which made the two young women strolling leisurely with umbrellas particularly noticeable. Biluo was the first to notice someone watching them. They were both quite attractive, so such gazes were not uncommon. Without even turning her head, she smiled at Bai Suzhen and said, “Sister, there’s a dazed man in the pavilion over there staring at us. Do you think he’s looking at you or me?” Bai Suzhen, in a rare moment of playfulness, replied, “Maybe he’s looking at both of us?” As she spoke, she casually glanced in the direction Biluo had indicated. But when she looked, she was suddenly taken aback.
