Ch 61: The Malevolent Monster Just Wants To Farm

After Ao Ning finished her purchase, she reluctantly glanced at the handsome shop owner several times before finally leaving. Just as she was about to go, Jiang Lin suddenly remembered something and called out, “Wait a moment.”

Ao Ning stopped in her tracks and saw Jiang Lin turn around and walk into a back room behind a curtain. A moment later, he returned, holding a few flowers in his hand.

Jiang Lin handed the flowers to Ao Ning, saying, “This is a gift for being our first customer.”

Ao Ning widened her eyes at the sight of the flowers she had never seen before. The flowers were a fiery red, with half-open buds still glistening with dew, looking fresh and tender, almost too beautiful to behold.

Bright and radiant to the point of being dazzling.

Few women can resist the allure of beautiful flowers, especially such stunning ones.

“What kind of flower is this?” she asked.

Jiang Lin replied, “It’s called a rose, a newly discovered variety from the Shen Nong tribe. Even in the Shen Nong tribe, it’s a very rare flower, and I assure you, outside of this shop, you won’t find it anywhere else.”

Perfect. A rare, exclusive, and limited-edition beautiful flower—just the sort of thing a wealthy lady loves.

As Jiang Lin expected, Ao Ning immediately asked, “Do you have more of these roses? How much are they?”

Jiang Lin, of course, had plenty—he could supply as many as she wanted. But he only smiled apologetically and said, “These flowers are scarce, and it takes a lot of effort for me to get even a few. Also, the shop isn’t selling flowers today.”

His words clearly implied that he had more roses.

Naturally, Ao Ning wasn’t satisfied and pestered him to sell her some, but Jiang Lin just replied, “The shop changes its products daily. You can come back tomorrow to see if there are any available.”

He remained completely unmoved.

Ao Ning was quite frustrated. In this enormous Sea City, there were very few people who didn’t give her face. But Jiang Lin was just too much her type—dragons are domineering and easily angered, but no dragon would ever harm a beauty.

In the end, she left with a huff, but she was so fond of those few roses that she didn’t even want to put them in her storage bracelet, instead carefully holding them in her hands as she left.

A renowned beauty walking around with beautiful flowers in hand—there couldn’t be a better advertisement.

Jiang Lin sat on a seat covered in soft animal hide inside the shop, propping his chin up with a satisfied smile on his face.

Huaiyin, seeing his expression, teased, “Why do I feel like closing a deal makes you happier than advancing in your cultivation?”

Jiang Lin glanced at her and replied, “That’s because you don’t understand. Cultivating is about making oneself stronger, and the purpose of strength is to ensure survival. But farming and running a small business selling crops, those are my hobbies. These are pursuits that go beyond basic survival needs, fulfilling my spiritual needs. That’s why it brings me more joy.”

His words were simple and easy to understand. Huaiyin pondered for a moment, then sighed, “You always live so simply, clearly, and happily.”

Jiang Lin smiled, about to say something, when he suddenly froze. The peculiar mark in his soul suddenly began to fluctuate.

He murmured in surprise, “Zong Yu is here? What’s he doing in the Eastern Seas?”

He stood up, his eyes clouded with divine light as he gazed off into the distance in a certain direction.

It was toward the endless sea.

“Lord Zong is here?” Huaiyin’s ears perked up immediately.

She carefully observed Jiang Lin and said, “He’s coming a bit late this time.”

This didn’t match her predictions.

If she wasn’t mistaken and Zong Yu did have some unclear feelings for the master, logically, he shouldn’t have been able to bear the separation and should have come looking for him immediately.

Jiang Lin casually said, “Maybe he ran into a little trouble and got delayed.”

Seeing his indifferent attitude, Huaiyin sighed inwardly: I hope I’m wrong.

Otherwise, with the master being so oblivious, Zong Yu is in for a tough time.

But… thinking of Zong Yu’s sometimes childlike behavior, Huaiyin couldn’t help but think that the two of them were well-matched.

Neither of them is that bright, after all.

Soon, new customers began to arrive at the shop. Sea City was bustling with people, and Jiang Lin’s shop, although not in the best location, was new and naturally attracted some curious visitors.

Unsurprisingly, as soon as they stepped inside, the customers were captivated by the dazzling array of fruits on display.

The Shen Nong tribe was renowned, whether in the Tu Su tribe or in the Eastern Seas. However, despite its fame, most people outside had never met anyone from the Shen Nong tribe, let alone tasted the produce grown by them. These were crops blessed by the God of Agriculture!

Especially considering that the shop was selling valuable and highly perishable fruits.

Everyone knew how delicate fruits were—after just a few days, they could spoil. With the Shen Nong tribe located so far from the Eastern Seas, it was a mystery how the shop owner managed to keep these fruits as fresh as if they had just been picked.

This was undoubtedly a rare and unique offering in Sea City!

Even though Jiang Lin had set a steep price for his goods.

Most customers backed off when they heard the high prices, but in a city as large as this, there were always those with deep pockets who didn’t mind spending on such luxuries. They selected a few beautiful and delicious items to take home.

These customers, without exception, became repeat visitors to the Shen Nong Specialty Shop.

There were also other customers who were drawn by the sight of the roses Ao Ning carried in her hands—mostly women, but also a few male nobles from Sea City. They sent people to inquire whether the shop had more of those flowers. Jiang Lin always said they weren’t for sale, but as the disappointed customers were leaving, he would hand them a single vibrant rose, leaving them unable to muster any anger.

In just a few short days, the shop named “Shen Nong” had become the talk of every corner of Sea City.

It was said that this shop sold items at such high prices that anyone who made a purchase would feel the pinch for days.

However, anyone who bought something from there, whether it was fruit or food that could be cooked like rice or sweet potatoes, would praise it as worth every penny.

Business was booming, much to Jiang Lin’s surprise.

The three of them couldn’t keep up with the demand, but fortunately, this was a world of myths and magic. Jiang Lin created five or six puppets to help out in the shop.

There were some who saw how successful the business was and had bad intentions. But anyone who tried to cause trouble ended up half-dead and thrown out by the gentle and smiling shopkeeper, which quickly put a stop to any more mischief.

People realized that if Jiang Lin had the confidence to open a shop in Sea City so boldly, he must have had something to back him up.

This added an air of mystery to the shop, making outsiders even more curious.

Meanwhile, Zong Yu was in a foul mood.

Standing in front of him was an incredibly beautiful woman.

The woman had striking features, a tall and graceful figure, and a pair of radiant golden eyes. On her forehead were two elegant dragon horns.

She was a dragon.

Zong Yu had long since pinpointed Jiang Lin’s location and tore through space to enter this world.

However, something went wrong when he arrived.

For some reason, perhaps due to someone else manipulating the space laws, he ended up in a completely sealed barrier space by mistake.

The moment he entered, Zong Yu was almost blinded.

The vast, endless space was filled with towering “mountains of treasure,” all gleaming brightly.

There were glittering pearls and gems, sparkling magical artifacts, shining decorative pieces, and even shimmering clothing…

Everything was gleaming.

He quickly realized that he might have entered some sort of treasure vault.

But he couldn’t get out.

This was a completely sealed space, very similar to the spatial abilities he had learned about in inherited memories, particularly those possessed by pureblood dragons. To tear open this space, one would need to be stronger than the space’s owner.

It seemed Zong Yu wasn’t stronger.

Judging by the sheer size of the vault, it likely belonged to a dragon that had lived for countless millennia.

Zong Yu tried various methods but couldn’t break out. He didn’t even know how long he had been inside. Luckily, dragons had a habit of occasionally checking on their treasures. One day, the owner of the space came in to inspect their hoard and immediately noticed Zong Yu squatting inside.

A thief!

The treasure vault was the lifeblood of a dragon!

The dragon’s first reaction was to attack without any questions.

Zong Yu, as expected, was no match and got beaten up. Fortunately, he could take a beating, and after the dragon’s anger subsided, they realized nothing seemed to be missing from their hoard.

Upon closer inspection, the powerful young fellow before them appeared to be an unhatched one.

Dragons were generally more tolerant of their young, so the dragon, a handsome and flirtatious-looking youth with peach-blossom eyes, asked Zong Yu what had happened.

Holding back his frustration, Zong Yu explained how he had accidentally entered the vault and emphasized repeatedly that he had no interest in the shiny treasures.

The dragon realized it was a misunderstanding and generously released him.

Only then did Zong Yu learn that he was in a place called the Eastern Sea Domain and that the dragon who had beaten him, whose power was monstrously strong, was actually the Dragon Emperor.

Saying he had lived for millennia was an understatement; the Dragon Emperor had lived for at least several hundred thousand years.

This Eastern Sea Domain was not like the Eastern Sea in the world of Journey to the West. The dragon clan here was a true ruling force, one of the most powerful existences in the world.

As soon as he emerged from the Dragon Emperor’s treasure space, Zong Yu sensed Jiang Lin’s presence.

Without hesitation, he set off to find him, but unexpectedly, a crazy woman latched onto him.

The crazy woman was named Ao Yue, the daughter of the Dragon Emperor.

The Dragon Emperor had lived so long and had countless children, even pureblood offspring numbered seventy or eighty.

Ao Yue was neither the strongest nor the Dragon Emperor’s favorite, but she was still a princess of the Eastern Sea Domain and one of the most powerful figures in the area.

Her reason for clinging to Zong Yu was simple: she was captivated by his beauty.

It was probably that old saying: the more unattainable something is, the more desirable it becomes. Initially, Ao Yue was just attracted to Zong Yu’s appearance and wanted a romantic encounter with him. However, after being coldly rejected and even fighting with him, she found herself even more determined.

Zong Yu had no qualms about hitting women, especially since Ao Yue was far from being a delicate damsel. However, Ao Yue was powerful in her own right, and as the Dragon Emperor’s daughter, she had plenty of treasures at her disposal. Being in the Eastern Sea Domain further enhanced her abilities.

Zong Yu couldn’t beat her off, couldn’t shake her, and was growing frustrated to the point of wanting to eat dragon meat.

“Get out of my way!” Zong Yu said coldly.

Ao Yue was puzzled. “Why won’t you be with me? I’m powerful, and I’m so beautiful. I won’t even ask you to take responsibility. No matter how you look at it, you won’t lose out.”

Zong Yu: “…”

“I don’t like you,” he replied.

“Like?” Ao Yue was even more confused. “I like beautiful people when I see them. You don’t like me? Am I not beautiful enough?”

There was a complete disconnect in their understanding, and Zong Yu’s fists itched again.

But then Ao Yue suddenly said, “Is the ‘like’ you’re talking about what your people call ‘love’? You won’t be with me because you’re already in love with someone else?”
