Ch 51: The Malevolent Monster Just Wants To Farm

Li Chengzhou lay peacefully in his wheelchair, a smile on his face. Jiang Lin knew that there was no point in torturing a madman like him, so he ended his life swiftly.

He waited for a moment, and soon a grayish mist began to rise from Li Chengzhou’s body. A translucent gray figure slowly stood up—this was his soul. If left alone, it would wander for seven days before being collected by soul-retrieving envoys.

Jiang Lin raised his hand and cast a bead, capturing the soul within it.

Throughout the entire process, the delicate beauties remained quietly kneeling on the ground, like emotionless dolls. They truly were no different from dolls. While dolls are made from inanimate materials, these “beauties” were constructed from living human bodies. But within these shells, there was no longer any soul or consciousness.

The old Taoist truly deserved to die.

Jiang Lin glanced around the place in disgust; everything here repulsed him.

When he returned to the courtyard, the battle had already ended.

Zong Yu had found a rope from somewhere and tied up the four people like he was herding sheep, holding the other end of the rope in his hand.

Seeing Jiang Lin, Zong Yu’s eyes lit up, and he asked, “Did you take care of things?”

Jiang Lin nodded. “It’s settled.”

He looked at the four people on the ground and said, “Leave the old Taoist to me. As for the other three, cripple their cultivation and throw them out.”

Upon hearing this, the four people showed expressions of terror. The old Taoist was one thing, but the other three were no good characters either; they had made many enemies throughout their lives. They had only been safe because they had banded together and had the protection of the Prince’s residence. If they were to be thrown out with their cultivation crippled, their old enemies would likely make their lives worse than death.

They couldn’t help but want to plead for mercy, but Zong Yu glared at them, “Shut up! If you speak, I’ll kill you right now!”

When Zong Yu got truly angry, he was quite terrifying—especially since they had witnessed his power firsthand. The four of them shrank back in fear.

Huaiyin took care of crippling their cultivation, while Zong Yu dragged the old Taoist away like he was handling a piece of garbage and left the Prince’s residence.

That night, countless citizens of the capital saw thunderbolts striking down on the Prince’s residence, setting it ablaze with roaring flames.

No one knew what kind of fire it was, but ordinary water couldn’t extinguish it.

By the time the Emperor, who was in the deep palace, received the news and sent a Taoist priest to investigate, most of the Prince’s residence had already burned down.

Half of the people in the Prince’s residence perished in the fire, while the other half miraculously survived unscathed.

What was horrifying, though, was the sight of numerous “corpses” beneath the layers of rubble—stunning beauties who had not been touched by the fire.

Among the crowd of onlookers, someone gasped in recognition: they identified one of the bodies as the daughter of a wealthy merchant who had gone missing two years ago.

Soon, one by one, the bodies were identified as people who had either died or gone missing in “accidents” over the past few years. All these people had died in the Prince’s residence!

Rumors spread quickly, claiming that the fire was divine punishment, sent to expose the true nature of the Prince, who, despite his outwardly righteous appearance, had caused the deaths of countless innocents.

Jiang Lin paid no attention to the rumors. The three of them returned to the small courtyard under the cover of night.

Jiang Jin looked at Jiang Lin expectantly—as soon as the Prince died, she had felt something heavy being lifted from her body.

The one responsible for his death had finally met their end.

Jiang Lin took out the soul-capturing bead in front of Jiang Jin and apologized, saying, “Jin, this man was a madman. Trying to take revenge on him while he was alive wouldn’t have hurt him much, so I decided to end him first.”

He then summoned the soul of the Prince.

The newly deceased soul was still in a daze, unaware of what was happening. Jiang Lin cast a spell, sending a flash of spiritual light to wake him up.

As the Prince regained his senses, he looked at Jiang Lin, then down at himself, and exclaimed with joy, “Have I become a ghost?”

He stood up and, remembering something, reached out to touch his face, only to freeze in shock—it was still pitted and scarred. Without needing to see, he knew those were the same terrifying scars.

“Why are there still scars!” he yelled in frustration.

Jiang Lin smiled slightly. “Not only do you still have scars, Li Chengzhou, becoming a ghost is just the beginning.”

He reached out and slammed his hand down on Li Chengzhou’s head, crushing his tall form into a ball. Li Chengzhou screamed in pain, and his soul bounced back like a spring.

Jiang Lin released the green-clad female ghost he had found in the side courtyard. As soon as she appeared, her eyes fixated on Li Chengzhou.

Panicking, Li Chengzhou shouted, “Why? Shouldn’t I be stronger than everyone else?”

In response, he was met with malicious smiles from everyone around him.

Jiang Lin leisurely said, “A grudge should be avenged, a debt repaid. Don’t hold back—he’s already dead, so there’s no need to fear torturing him to death.”

Jiang Jin and the green-clad female ghost cheered and rushed at him.

The next day, there was a knock on the door of the quiet courtyard.

Huaiyin opened the door and saw Madam Jiang standing there.

Madam Jiang was surprised to see Huaiyin. “Miss, is Jiang Lin staying here?”

Huaiyin nodded. “Please, come with me.”

She led Madam Jiang inside, and Jiang Lin had already come out to greet her. “Auntie.”

Madam Jiang looked at Huaiyin. “And this young lady is…?”

Jiang Lin smiled and said, “She is like me.”

Upon hearing this, Madam Jiang looked at Huaiyin with a hint of pity in her eyes.

Such a beautiful young lady, how could she have passed away so young?

Huaiyin: “?”

Madam, I think there’s something wrong with the way you’re looking at me.

But she dared not ask further and turned to leave.

Madam Jiang then asked Jiang Lin, “I heard about what happened at the Prince’s residence. Was it your doing?”

Jiang Lin admitted it.

Madam Jiang’s expression was complicated. “So, the Prince was the main culprit?”

Jiang Lin nodded again.

Madam Jiang sighed. “I’m useless. You and your sister suffered such cruelty, and I couldn’t even help. You had to take revenge on your own.”

Jiang Lin smiled gently. “Auntie, you don’t need to think that way. You’ve already done more than enough.”

He looked at Madam Jiang. “May I ask you for a favor?”

Madam Jiang moved out of the temple and into the small courtyard. She knew that there was probably not a single normal person in the entire courtyard, but she wasn’t afraid.

When Jiang Jin harvested her first crop, Madam Jiang took over the kitchen duties and began cooking meals for them.

Qin Ling came by, full of apologies, and confessed to Jiang Lin.

He told the truth: he had indeed been found by his master as a child because his master saw that he had a naturally pure yang constitution. At that time, his master was nearing death and had captured an old, evil monster but couldn’t find a place to seal it.

So, he sealed the monster in Qin Ling’s pure yang body, left a few strands of divine consciousness in his mind, and then passed away.

Qin Ling grew up stumbling through life. When the seals broke, he found the cultivation methods and magical tools his master had left behind and began to cultivate on his own.

Due to the monster sealed within him, his body became ageless and immortal. Though he appeared young, he was over two hundred years old. However, because of this unique body, he rarely made friends or visited lively places, so even after two hundred years, his mindset wasn’t much more mature than that of a twenty-year-old.

When Qin Ling spoke to Jiang Lin, he was full of guilt. “The monster’s power is growing stronger, and I’m finding it harder to keep it sealed. In the past two years, its consciousness has occasionally surfaced, taking control of my body.”

Someday, the monster might completely take over his body, Qin Ling thought privately. If that day came, he would find a way to drag the monster down with him.

Jiang Lin finally understood why Qin Ling sometimes gave him such a strange feeling.

He said, “It’s not your fault.”

Qin Ling’s eyes sparkled. “So, can we still be friends?”

Jiang Lin nodded. “Of course, if it’s you.”

Zong Yu frowned as he looked at Qin Ling. Although the taoist seemed more agreeable in this state, he still didn’t like him.

Huaiyin, standing nearby, noticed his expression and quietly asked, “Young Master Zong, do you dislike this Taoist? I don’t like him either.”

Zong Yu looked at her curiously. “Why don’t you like him?”

Huaiyin replied, “Because he likes the master!”

Now that she was Jiang Lin’s spiritual plant, she always stood by Jiang Lin’s side. While the taoist himself might not be bad, he was too weak and didn’t deserve the master.

Zong Yu’s eyes widened. “He… likes Jiang Lin?”

Huaiyin, a beauty accustomed to the affairs of the world, nodded naturally. “Of course, the admiration in his eyes is quite obvious.”

Zong Yu: !

No wonder he always found that taoist annoying!

Zong Yu really is quite dense but Jiang Lin’s also quite dense himself šŸ˜‚ if no one helps them… Would they have to spend hundreds of millions of lifetimes to figure it out? šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚
