Ch 49: The Malevolent Monster Just Wants To Farm Sep 23 2024September 24, 2024 Jiang Lin wasnāt someone who cared about fairness. Listening to the argument between the two, he only felt annoyed. “Huaiyin,” he called out. Huaiyin paused and then let out a small laugh. Qin Ling suddenly felt a cold wind brush past him, and his body was immobilized. He could only move his eyes, and when he looked at Jiang Lin, he surprisingly smiled, “Mr. Jiang, so indifferent?” Jiang Lin indeed showed him indifference, replying, “Xiao Zong is an old friend of mine. If you argue with him, of course, Iāll take his side.” He didnāt like wasting time on unnecessary matters, so he said, “The restraint on you will be lifted in an hour. During this time, you wonāt be able to move, but no one will be able to harm you either.” With that, he turned and walked away. Zong Yu’s face had unknowingly broken into a smileāJiang Lin’s words and actions were exactly to his liking. As a proper victor, he didnāt even glance at Qin Ling, simply following behind Jiang Lin. Huaiyin was the only one left. She walked up to Qin Ling and, with a frown, warned him, “Mr. Qin, our master has a good temper, but thatās not a reason for your rudeness. If you continue like this, next time, even if the master doesnāt act, I might not be able to restrain myself.” After saying that, she transformed into a stream of light and caught up with the two ahead. Qin Ling remained standing where he was, looking in the direction they had left, his expression shifting unpredictably. After a while, his face contorted, alternating between anger and gloom. “You did it on purpose!” he suddenly shouted angrily. The next moment, the cheerful young manās expression turned sinister, sneering, “What do you mean on purpose? Donāt you like him? I just helped you make it clear, to get his attentionāwhatās wrong with that?” “Whoā¦who said I liked him?” The young man who had just been glowering now blushed and stammered in denial. “If you donāt like him, then I can kill him, and you wonāt have any objections, right?” “Donāt you dare!” Jiang Lin had no idea what was happening with Qin Ling. He had arrived at the central area of the imperial city, the closest place to the palace, where only the most powerful and influential nobles and royal family members lived. The person he was looking for was here. No wonder the person had been able to so easily promise Chen Bo’an whatever he desired. The Prince of Xianās Residence. Jiang Lin stood before the grand vermilion gates of this imposing mansion. This worldās dynasty was still at its peak, and as a direct bloodline of the royal family, the entire Prince of Xian’s Residence was shrouded in a dense, auspicious purple aura. The dynasty was at its zenith, and the imperial dragon’s power was unprecedentedly strong. Even Huaiyin, a great demon, showed a hint of apprehension when facing this grand vermilion courtyard. Only Zong Yu seemed indifferent, casually asking, “So this Prince of Xian is the one responsible for the death of this body? Iāll go grab him for you.” Jiang Lin shook his head, “No need, I want to kill him myself.” With that, he dusted off his sleeves and walked straight toward the gate. As the vengeful ghost approached, the protective dragon energy surged toward him, and the golden-armored gate guardian appeared, sternly shouting, “What ghost dares to trespass on the grounds of the royal family?” A faint green light emerged from Jiang Lin, shielding him from the purple aura. He bowed to the golden-armored gate guardian, “I have a blood feud with the master of this houseāRespected God, you should not block my path.” The golden-armored deity’s gaze flickered with the shadows of reincarnation, and in a brief moment, he discerned Jiang Lin’s true form and the suffering this body had endured. His expression softened, and he took a step back, sternly stating, “Since there is karmic retribution between you and him, I won’t stop you. But do not harm the innocent, or I will not spare you.” Jiang Lin bowed in gratitude, “Thank you for your leniency.” The golden-armored deity, perhaps finding it rare to encounter such a clean and courteous vengeful spirit, offered a final piece of advice before turning into golden light and vanishing: “The master of this residence is a believer in ghosts and gods, and there are many skilled individuals residing here. Tread carefully.” Jiang Lin thanked him once more, then transformed into a shadow and slipped into the residence. Upon entering, he realized that the imposing imperial purple aura did not actually harm him. However, Huaiyin seemed clearly apprehensive, struggling somewhat to resist it. The system, which had been dormant for a long time, suddenly spoke up, “Don’t misunderstandāthe imperial purple aura, as the purest yang energy, doesn’t deter ordinary spirits or demons, but rather evil beings.” Jiang Lin immediately understood its meaning, “So, if the spirit or demon is not evil, it won’t target them. But if they’re guilty of heinous crimes, even a righteous god would suppress them?” The system found it much easier having a smart host. “In that case,” Jiang Lin continued, “why is the Prince of Xian’s residence still under protection?” The system replied, “He isn’t considered a cultivator of the Dao.” In essence, imperial purple aura and vengeful spirits seeking revenge were matters beyond the ordinary mortal realm. The imperial purple aura had no jurisdiction over mundane fates. For instance, if an assassin came to kill the Prince of Xian, it wouldn’t intervene either. Jiang Lin’s movements were already as discreet as possible, but the moment he stepped into the Prince’s residence, his presence was detected. Only after entering did he realize that the entire residence was layered with numerous formations. It was fortunate he had insisted on leaving Jiang Jin at home. As a vengeful spirit, she might be formidable in an ordinary household, but here, she would likely be outmatched. Jiang Lin remained composed, fully aware that the master of this residence had long been on guard. Since he had been discovered, he decided not to search the place bit by bit, instead revealing himself in one spot. Soon, four streaks of spiritual light descended around him. Jiang Lin observed them: a pair of strikingly similar young men and women, an elderly Daoist with a ruddy face, and a monk dressed in a kasaya. The elderly Daoist, clearly the leader of the group, immediately shouted sternly at Jiang Lin, “How dare a demon like you trespass in the Prince’s residence! Considering the difficulty of your cultivation, if you leave now, I might spare your life!” Jiang Lin didn’t respond. He noticed something. The old Daoist was surrounded by overwhelming bloodlust and a heavy burden of sins. And among these, there was a thread of karma tightly connected to Jiang Lin’s ghostly form. Jiang Lin’s gaze sharpened as he suddenly understood, “So it was you who taught the Prince of Xian the method of skinning people?” His words revealed the truth, startling the old Daoist, who quickly shed his righteous facade and sneered, “You possess a rare ability to see through karma, do you? In that case, you must not be allowed to live!” “Old man, who do you think you’re talking to? With your Lord Zong here, when do you get to make threats?” an arrogant voice chimed in from the side. Seeing Jiang Lin look at him, Zong Yu subconsciously straightened up even more, not forgetting to boast, “Don’t worry, I could single-handedly take on ten of these stinky Daoists two thousand years ago!” Jiang Lin: “⦔ He didn’t find it impressiveāin fact, it seemed a bit silly, and he couldn’t help but smile. Huaiyin burst out laughing, “In that case, Lord Zong, you take three, and I’ll handle one. Let the master go deal with that so-called Prince of Xian.” Previous TOC Next Share this post? ā”Share Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on X (Opens in new window) X Like this:Like Loading⦠Published by Thandar Better than Thingyan šš View all posts by Thandar
