Ch 47: The Malevolent Monster Just Wants To Farm

Li Fu was so terrified that his soul nearly left his body. With a scream, he shoved the beauty in his arms away and shouted, “Someone! Help!”

The guards at the door rushed in. “Master Fu, what’s wrong?”

Their expressions were normal, tinged with confusion. A woman’s pained cry came from nearby.

Li Fu blinked and saw that the beauty was still just as she had been—delicate features, soft hair, looking up at him with frightened eyes.

Was it just an illusion?

Li Fu exhaled deeply. Perhaps he had just seen too much and started imagining things. Uneasily, he touched the talisman at his chest, one he had specially requested from his master. Ever since he had decided to follow his master and become his blade, carrying out all those vile deeds, he couldn’t help but feel fear at times.

But fortune favors the bold. His current position, being addressed as “Master Fu” by everyone, was all thanks to his skillful handiwork.

Although it seemed like a false alarm, Li Fu had completely lost interest. He ordered the beauty to be taken away and downed a cup of wine to steady his nerves before dismissing the guards. “It’s nothing, just a mistake. I thought a flayed ghost had come for me. You can go now.”

The guard, who was one of his trusted men and knew the kind of work Li Fu was involved in, didn’t leave immediately. Instead, he asked, “A ghost? What does a ghost look like? I’ve never seen one before. Could you describe it, sir?”

Li Fu noticed something was off. This guard was usually silent and never asked unnecessary questions, which was why Li Fu valued him.

He frowned and scolded, “I told you not to ask! Now leave!”

The guard, with a calm expression, looked directly at Li Fu and asked, “Master, was the ghost you saw like this?”

As he spoke, the skin on his face began to peel away like old, cracked paper, revealing fresh, bleeding flesh beneath. Blood oozed from the wounds.

He took a step towards Li Fu, and the door slammed shut with a loud bang.

Li Fu was petrified, his body collapsing in fear, unable to move.

He watched helplessly as the terrifying ghost face drew closer and closer, the foul stench of decay filling his nostrils.

“Tell me who your master is, and I’ll make your death quick.”

Jiang Lin quietly observed from the side as the illusion created by Huaiyin frightened Li Fu into a sniveling mess, confessing everything.

Jiang Lin turned away, not out of pity, but because he found it repulsive.

Huaiyin approached, holding a charred talisman, which she tossed aside. “Master, I’ve gotten all the information we needed.”

She glanced at Li Fu disdainfully. “What a coward. A mere illusion made him wet himself. How did he ever find the courage to commit such heinous acts?”

“Master, how do you plan to deal with him?” she asked.

Jiang Lin rubbed his chin, thinking.

Qin Ling suddenly appeared out of nowhere and laughed, “Isn’t it a bit too much to ask your master to think about these things?”

Huaiyin: “…”

Jiang Lin shot the enigmatic Taoist a glance and sighed, “You really might have the wrong idea about me.”

He then turned to Huaiyin and instructed, “Separate his three souls and seven spirits, keep his consciousness intact, then break them into fragments and throw him into the slaughterhouse.”

Huaiyin’s eyes widened in admiration as she looked at Jiang Lin. “Master, you’re finally starting to resemble the Lord of Black Mountain.”

The slaughterhouse was filled with animals awaiting slaughter, all destined to be cut, scalded, skinned, and dismembered. Li Fu had always enjoyed being the executioner, so now he would experience the ‘pleasure’ of being butchered himself, countless times.

Qin Ling’s attention, however, was caught by something else: the Lord of Black Mountain?

He thought for a long time but couldn’t recall hearing of such a person.

He looked up at Jiang Lin, who appeared refined and gentle, with a smile as warm as a gentle breeze.

Yet this very person had just uttered such a cruel punishment without batting an eye. It was… it was truly captivating.

Jiang Lin was deep in thought, considering the information Li Fu had revealed, when suddenly his surroundings darkened. Someone had moved close to him, very close. He turned his head, avoiding Qin Ling’s hand as it reached towards him, and frowned. “What is it?”

Qin Ling lightly brushed his hand over Jiang Lin’s hair, revealing a leaf he had plucked. He waved it in front of Jiang Lin. “Just a stray leaf blown by the wind.”

Jiang Lin didn’t give it much thought. “Next time, don’t do that.”

“I don’t really like others getting too close to me.”

Qin Ling paused for a moment, then smiled. “Understood.”

He was about to say something more when he noticed Jiang Lin’s expression change as if he had sensed something. Jiang Lin smiled.

Qin Ling asked, “Has something happened?”

Jiang Lin felt a tremor from the mark in his soul sea and smiled. “An old friend is coming.”

Just as he said this, Huaiyin approached Jiang Lin with a wary expression and whispered, “Sir, I sense a strong presence approaching.”

Jiang Lin chuckled. “Take a closer look.”

Huaiyin hesitated. As the presence drew nearer, her senses became clearer, and she recognized something familiar. “It feels a bit like… Lord Zong?”

Before she could finish, the presence stopped hiding, approaching them openly.

At the same time, in the capital and the imperial city, top families were alerted, and various spiritual senses converged over the capital.

Zong Yu, who had just arrived in the capital, sensed these probing spiritual senses. With a cold snort, he waved his sleeve, and a mountain-like force pushed all those senses back.

Such audacity.

Jiang Lin sighed. “He’s as reckless as ever.”

Huaiyin, on the other hand, looked envious. For powerful demons like them, being low-key and farming like Jiang Lin was unusual. The stronger one’s power, the more they should flaunt it. Who wouldn’t aspire to such an overwhelming aura?

Zong Yu forcefully entered the capital but immediately reined in his presence upon crossing into the city, blending in seamlessly like a drop of water into a vast river, making it impossible to track him.

The prying gazes naturally lost their target.

He knew Jiang Lin’s character and didn’t want to cause him any trouble.

From afar, Zong Yu spotted the person he had come to see. He had changed his appearance again, but Zong Yu had never relied on looks to recognize Jiang Lin.

Using his ability to cover great distances in a single step, he appeared right in front of Jiang Lin and stood still.

Jiang Lin looked him up and down as if assessing him, then said uncertainly, “You seem to have grown taller?”

Huaiyin confirmed his observation. “Congratulations, Lord Zong, on getting closer to adulthood.”

Zong Yu looked at Jiang Lin, and for once, he wasn’t as arrogant as before. Instead, he coughed and said, “I’m almost fully grown.”

The reason he had arrived so late this time was that he had entered a growth phase, with more and more of his inherited memories coming to light. He also now understood the nature of the contract he had accidentally formed with Jiang Lin in the previous world.

This was why he had hesitated for so long before finally coming to see Jiang Lin, full of internal conflict.

He remained silent, sneaking a glance at Jiang Lin, thinking that if Jiang Lin found out what kind of contract they had formed…

Zong Yu shuddered internally. Although Jiang Lin was usually kind and gentle, he had a strong feeling that if this secret got out, Jiang Lin might kill him.

He absolutely couldn’t let this slip!

He decided to act as if nothing had happened. After he fully matured and figured out how to resolve the situation, then he would consider revealing it. This was the decision Zong Yu made.

For now, he planned to act as if nothing had ever happened.

Jiang Lin found Zong Yu’s behavior a bit strange and suspiciously asked, “Are you hiding something from me?”

Zong Yu quickly replied, “No, no!”

Noticing Qin Ling on the side, he seized the opportunity to change the subject. “Who’s he?”

Jiang Lin answered, “Just a friend I met by chance.”

Qin Ling, who had been secretly observing Zong Yu since he arrived, found Jiang Lin’s response somewhat amusing. “You’re being a bit too cold, don’t you think? After all, I’ve been helping you with your revenge.”

Jiang Lin calmly responded, “To be honest, I didn’t need your help. Your so-called companionship was entirely one-sided.”

He frowned at Qin Ling. “You’re a decent person, so I consider you a friend. But let’s be clear—I don’t owe you anything, and you don’t owe me. If you keep talking like this, we might as well not be friends.”

Qin Ling’s expression changed, but he quickly smiled and said, “Alright, alright, it’s my fault. I apologize, okay?”

When Zong Yu heard the word “revenge” and noticed Jiang Lin’s weak spiritual energy, he couldn’t help but ask, “What happened? Why are you in this state…?” He glanced at Qin Ling beside them and changed his question. “Why are you like this?”

Jiang Lin replied, “Let’s talk about it when we get back.”

When they returned to the small house, Jiang Jin saw the unfamiliar young man. The aura around him frightened her, and she clung to Jiang Lin’s sleeve. “Brother, he’s scary.”

Jiang Lin glared at Zong Yu. “Did you hear that? You’re scaring A-Jin.”

Zong Yu was speechless. He had already restrained himself a lot, hadn’t he? It’s just that this ghost girl was too weak!

But no one understood his frustration. The little lord Zong had to cast another concealment spell, completely masking his demon aura.

Qin Ling observed the easy, familiar interaction between Jiang Lin and Zong Yu, noting that such casualness and comfort only existed between people who were entirely trusting and close. His gaze deepened.

Jiang Lin said to A-Jin, “This is your brother’s friend. You can call him…”

He looked at Zong Yu, who now appeared older, looking like a sixteen or seventeen-year-old boy, older than fifteen-year-old A-Jin.

“You can call him Brother Zong Yu. He’s very powerful, and if you ever run into trouble, you can ask him for help.” Jiang Lin clearly had no qualms about using such a strong, free helper.

A-Jin curiously looked at Zong Yu, her face turning red as she shyly called him Brother Zong Yu.

Zong Yu absentmindedly responded, and then, for some reason, his ears turned a bit red, and he lowered his head, lost in thought.

Something wasn’t right.

Jiang Lin studied Zong Yu carefully, confirming that the person in front of him was indeed the same Zong Yu, not possessed by something strange.

But since their reunion, Zong Yu’s attitude towards him had been unusually different.

If it wasn’t possession, then he was definitely hiding something!

Jiang Lin silently pondered this while asking, “Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?”

In the past, Zong Yu would always demand a large feast upon their first meeting, but today, he had completely forgotten about it.

Zong Yu hesitated, then touched his stomach. How could he not be hungry?

He casually said, “Just make something simple.”

Then he remembered something and looked at Jiang Lin, feeling a bit embarrassed. “If you’re not feeling well right now, I can just have something light. Don’t tire yourself out.”

Jiang Lin: ???
