Chapter 50: The Ugly Ger’s Farming Story

Xie Ama felt extremely relieved after hearing it. Their own son was so good, but the Ma family couldn’t see it and ended up marrying such a person. Disgusting! That Yang son has been married for so many years and besides being a violent person, he doesn’t even have any children!

Xie Yu finished hanging the clothes and silently returned to the room. A few days ago, he felt uneasy when he heard that Ma Fugui was going to marry someone new. But now, upon hearing the news that Ma Fugui had actually gotten married, he remained calm. There was no trace of fluctuation in his heart. It seemed that this destined fate had been completely severed, hadn’t it?

“Wife…”

Xu Qing turned around and faced Li Changfeng, looking cold and indifferent.

Seeing that Xu Qing was unmoved, Li Changfeng grew anxious and kept circling around Xu Qing. “Wife, I was wrong! Next time I won’t be so forceful.”

Xu Qing gave Li Changfeng a slap on the head. “Next time?!” Li Changfeng endured the blow without much pain and immediately expressed remorse. “There won’t be a next time! There won’t be a next time!”

“Just tell me how we’re going to sleep tonight.” Xu Qing put down what he was busy with and stared at Li Changfeng. Enough was enough! Last night, because of their rigorous moments, the bed collapsed!

Li Changfeng hurriedly took over Xu Qing’s tasks, efficiently completing them, and loudly said, “For now, let’s fix the bed and in a few days, I’ll make a large bed!” It had to be durable, not making any “creaking” noises due to vigorous movements, and certainly not collapsing from just a “small” movement!

That was the only solution. Xu Qing felt a bit annoyed and shook his head, muttering to himself, “Why did I agree to it? Really!”

Li Changfeng propped up his ear to hear what Xu Qing was saying, but Xu Qing’s voice was too fast and too low for him to make out.

“Bark! Woof woof!”

“Someone’s here.” Upon hearing Xiaobao’s barking at the front gate, Xu Qing knew that someone had arrived. Despite being a puppy, Xiaobao had become stronger and grown in size after Xu Qing fed it spiritual spring water. It was familiar with guarding the house and though its bark still sounded young and playful.

Xie Ama cheerfully pushed open the courtyard gate and was immediately bitten on the trouser leg by a small black puppy. “This little guy knows how to guard the house. No wonder your gate is always open.” Gently placing the defenseless Xiaobao aside, Xie Ama smiled and walked towards Xu Qing.

Xu Qing comforted Xiaobao, who kept barking and running to his feet for failing to stop the “stranger.” “Did something good happen to Xie Ama?” Xie Ama already had an elegant appearance, and the joy radiating from him added a touch of color.

“Well, it is good news! Ma Fugui got married yesterday!” Xie Ama sat on the stool Xu Qing brought for him and shared his happiness with Xu Qing. Upon hearing about Ma’s family marriage, Xu Qing glanced at Li Changfeng, who was working with his head lowered, with a smile that seemed both genuine and sarcastic.

“…Do you think it’s because even heaven couldn’t bear it and found such a person to marry Ma Fugui?” Xie Ama was initially very happy, but the thought of Ma’s family marrying someone so unbearable after they didn’t even want his Xie Yu made him inexplicably frustrated.

Xu Qing hadn’t expected that Li Changfeng and Lin Fangliang would really go through with it, finding such a person for Ma Fugui. But how did that Yang’s son agree to this?

After Xie Ama left, Xu Qing voiced his doubts, and Li Changfeng chuckled. “When the Yang family’s son heard it was Ma Fugui, he agreed right away. He said it’s their family tradition that once married into the Ma family, the property would belong to him. Ma Fugui is thinner and weaker than his previous husband, and, uh, it would be easier to fight with him. He’s not afraid of any tricks Ma Fugui might try.”

“Was it your idea?” Xu Qing asked while scratching Xiaobao’s belly, stating the obvious answer. Li Changfeng didn’t deny it but flashed a toothy grin at Xu Qing before getting back to work.

In the afternoon, just as Xie Yu was returning home from delivering something to the Wu family, he was suddenly grabbed by a pair of large, hairy, dark hands that covered his mouth and nose. He was dragged into a nearby house while helplessly watching the courtyard gate close tightly in front of him.

After everything with Lin Fangliang and Ma Fugui was settled, Lin Fangliang eagerly packed up and rushed to Xie Ama’s house on a donkey cart. “Ah, Dr. Lin, come in! Come in!” Uncle Xie greeted him with a smiling face as soon as he opened the door. He hurriedly invited him inside the courtyard. Lin Fangliang pretended to be calm as he patted the medical kit hanging from his body. “I came to check if Brother Xie has fully recovered. I hope I’m not bothering you?”

Uncle Xie glared at Lin Fangliang. “What are you saying? Am I someone who doesn’t appreciate good things? Hurry up and come in.”

Lin Fangliang put down the medical kit and took a seat. He casually looked around but didn’t see the person he was hoping for. He felt a bit disappointed. “Uncle Xie, is it just you in the house?”

“Well, yes. Xie Ama went to visit the Wei family, and Brother Xie went to the Wu family to return something he borrowed yesterday. If I had known you were coming, I wouldn’t have let them go out! Have some water,” Uncle Xie said, placing a cup of tea in front of Lin Fangliang.

They hadn’t been sitting for long when Xie Yureturned. As soon as Lin Fangliang saw Xie Yu, he stood up immediately. “What happened? Why do you look so pale?”

Xie Yu didn’t expect to see Lin Fangliang in his house. He forced a smile and said, “Dr. Lin, there’s nothing wrong. Maybe I walked too quickly.” Seeing Uncle Xie’s worried and nervous expression, he continued, “Father, I’m fine. I’m just a bit tired and want to rest for a while.” After speaking, he lowered his head and went straight back to his room, his footsteps somewhat unsteady.

Lin Fangliang couldn’t care about etiquette anymore. He went forward and grabbed Xie Yu’s wrist, but Xie Yu immediately reflexively shook him off. “Let go of me!” The voice was loud and urgent, filled with panic and fear. Lin Fangliang and Uncle Xie were startled. Something was wrong!

Xie Yu also realized he had gotten too worked up and quickly avoided Lin Fangliang’s gaze, which seemed capable of seeing through everything. “I’m sorry. I feel a bit uncomfortable. I… I’m sorry.” Uncle Xie quickly stepped forward to defuse the awkward atmosphere. “I apologize. Xie Yu may not be feeling well, so his tone may have been a bit excessive. Please don’t mind, don’t mind.”

Lin Fangliang stared closely at Xie Yu. “I’m a doctor! If you’re not feeling well, I have a responsibility to examine you.” Xie Yu couldn’t handle Lin Fangliang’s intense gaze and turned his head away. “It’s not a big deal. You don’t need to bother.”

“But seeing you like this, I’m very worried!”

Lin Fangliang’s firm and concerned tone not only shocked Xie Yu but also stunned Uncle Xie, who was known for his single-mindedness. On the other hand, Xie Ama, who had just returned from Xu Qing’s house, was relatively calm. He had known what this guy was up to, but he hadn’t expected him to be so direct and bold at this moment.

Looking at Xie Yu’s pale face, Lin Fangliang said, “I’m worried about you. Let me take a look, okay?” He gently held Xie Yu’s hand in his own, while his other hand took his pulse.

Xie Ama rushed forward upon hearing about checking the pulse. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Your complexion looks terrible!” Xie Yu snapped out of it and realized that his hand was being held by Lin Fangliang. He quickly exerted force to free himself. “It’s nothing. I just walked too quickly. It’s nothing.”

Xie Ama didn’t believe his words and anxiously asked Lin Fangliang. Lin Fangliang said, “Your physical recovery is going well, but your heart rate is a bit rapid. Did something startle you?”

Xie Yu’s hand tightened, but before he could speak, Uncle Xie slapped Lin Fangliang and said in a sinister tone, “Startled? It was your words that startled us! Come, let’s have a good chat!” Saying that, he dragged Lin Fangliang out of the courtyard.

Xie Ama touched Xie Yu’s forehead with his hand. “It’s fine, no fever. Go rest for a while. Your body hasn’t fully recovered yet.” Xie Yu nodded silently. His mind was in complete chaos. He needed to calm down.

Although evening approached, it was still bright outside. The weather was getting hotter, and nights were coming later. Xu Qing still locked the chickens in their coop. Their house was located at the foot of the mountains, where there were many animals in this time and space. Thinking about the mountains behind their house, Xu Qing felt a craving for wild game. These days, they either ate fish, pickled vegetables, or pork. Although their lives were indeed more comfortable than many others, for someone who had tasted the deliciousness of wild rabbit meat, there was still some nostalgia.

Li Changfeng had finished preparing the dresser for Luo Jiao. “I’ll go and deliver this to the Zhang family.” Luo Jiao’s husband’s surname was Zhang, and his name was Zhang Ming. They lived in the middle of the village.

“Go ahead and come back early.” Xu Qing played with Xiaobao, who hopped around as he moved, using a dry twig. Without looking up, Xu Qing said, making Li Changfeng dissatisfied. Was that little milk dog more attractive than him?! Li Changfeng took big strides forward and hugged Xu Qing from behind. Then, when Xu Qing turned his head, Li Changfeng took the opportunity to plant a kiss on his forehead.

“I’m leaving.”

“This person…” Xu Qing touched his forehead that had been kissed and looked at Xiaobao, who looked confused on the ground. He couldn’t help but laugh, making the confusion in Xiaobao’s eyes deepen. What was the owner laughing about?

As Li Changfeng walked through the village with the items in hand, the villagers returning home looked at him with curiosity. Xu Qing and Li Changfeng rarely came to the village, except for occasionally visiting the Xie family. There were very few people who came to the village.

Facing the curious gazes along the way, Li Changfeng knocked on a blue-tiled house. He had asked Second Wei before, so he naturally knew where to find him. A thin man opened the door. If Xu Qing were here, he would recognize this person as one of the two men, one fat and one thin, who had encountered him on the road and mocked his appearance.

If something really bad happened, i hope you can add the tag ‘rape’ into this novel in NU. I’m sorry, but something like this being hidden from readers is somewhat unacceptable to me

    1. Thingyan says:

No rape happened, hence, no tag in NU.

      1. Molly Johns says:

        Oh good news 😭

      2. HH says:

Omg, thank god. I was worried about Xie Yu being r*ped, too.

I’ve been burned by a few tags on NU re: r*pe and other things. So I don’t fully trust them.
