The Ugly Ger’s Farming Story – Extra 3

This extra chapter is dedicated to Paranoid Kitten, Ethereal Rainbow Canvas, Andra, and many other readers for being so supportive and kind. You all motivate me to continue translating ☺️☺️☺️☺️

Zhang Ming, came out of a shop with a package in his hand and a joyful smile on his face. He walked towards someone who had his back to him.

Then he handed the package to the surprised person with a smile, and the two of them walked hand in hand.

He was someone Zhang Ming newly married, and he was a pretty decent looking ger. Luo Jiao came out from the alley and watched them go away.

His face was far less radiant than when he was with Zhang Ming, and he looked haggard.

He had brought this on himself and had to just live with it.

Luo Jiao sneered. This was his retribution.

After that, Luo Jiao returned to Anle Village, living in the house he had before he got married.

His family members were unwilling to have much contact with him, thinking he was shameful, so Luo Jiao usually cooked and ate by himself.

“Phooh”

Luo Jiao returned home and was about to open his own room when he heard a man’s voice behind him.

His eyes dimmed, and without turning around, he puhed the door open and went into the room without looking at the middle-aged ger outside, closing the door.

That was his stepmother. Luo Jiao’s biological mother had died when he was very young, and just a month after his mother’s death, Luo Jiao’s father brought that ger home.

Luo Jiao curled up in bed and closed his eyes wearily.

Luo Jiao’s stepmother: “Old man, go quickly!”

Luo Jiao’s father: “How can I tell him?”

Luo Jiao’s stepmother: “Are you going or not? If you don’t go, I’ll go!”

Father Luo immediately grabbed Luo Jiao’s stepmother and nodded, “Alright, alright, I’ll go.”

Luo Jiao sat up and stood at the door. Father Luo knocked on the door.

“Jiao, it’s me, I have something to tell you.”

Luo Jiao opened the door expressionlessly and looked at his father’s somewhat embarrassed face.

“I don’t have any spare chair for you to sit on. If you have something to say, just say it hime.”

As he looked at his son not knowing where to start, Father Luo heard a cough from behind.

Upon hearing the sound, Luo Jiao sneered.

Feeling quite ashamed, Father Luo said, “I told you about the marriage. It’s with a hunter who lives next to the mountain, and the wedding’s scheduled for the day after tomorrow. You need to prepare for it yourself.”

The mountain was a place where people without parents or family members lived, basically cut off from contact with the outside world, and people there survived by living off the mountain.

Luo Jiao’s face fell.

“I won’t marry him!”

Before Father Luo could speak, he was pushed from behind by someone and almost fell over.

“It’s not up to you! If it wasn’t for you ruining our family’s reputation, my Little Wei would have been married long ago!”

Luo Jiao looked at the face in front of him, which made him want to strangle. He leaned against the door, sneering at his stepmother, “That’s because you gave birth to him in a way that’s too shameful. What’s it to me?”

“You! You!” Stepmother Luo was so angry that he couldn’t speak, but he didn’t dare to do anything to him. He had suffered enough from him before, so he could only yell at Father Luo who was pretending to be in the background, “Hurry up and take care of it! Do you want me to even live!!”

Father Luo looked at his son’s contented face, feeling quite troubled. After thinking for a moment, he gritted his teeth and said, “This is what the village head wants. If you don’t marry, our village’s young men won’t have a good reputation.”

Luo Jiao was startled and looked at the triumphant expression on his stepmother’s face and Father Luo’s evasive gaze. He stood up straight and closed the door with one hand.

The noisy commotion outside the door didn’t catch Luo Jiao’s attention at all. He knew that the village head wouldn’t let him off so easily after all the trouble he caused.

Luo Jiao’s stepmother and Father Luo argued outside the door for a while before the door suddenly opened again.

“I’ll marry.”

Luo Jiao’s stepmother’s face lit up, and he turned and walked back into the main house. Father Luo remained rooted in place. He thought of his son’s face, which was almost identical to his deceased wife.

“If you don’t want to marry, I…”

“You what?” Luo Jiao shook his head self-mockingly. “I’ll marry. Maybe that will be the only place where I can survive.”

He closed the door after speaking.

Father Luo stood in front of the closed door for a long time, sighed, and then left.

Luo Jiao covered his mouth with his hand and burst into tears, sitting on the ground.

“Zhang Ming…”

“… I’m sorry…”

But who could hear his voice of repentance?

The wedding was a simple affair that few people knew about. Thime was no sign of celebration in Luo’s house on the day of the wedding, not even a piece of red cloth.

Luo Jiao got up early, quietly tied up his hair, and dressed in the red clothes he had made all night.

He stood in front of the copper mirror, which reflected his slender body and his delicate face without much decoration, though his eyes were dark with lack of sleep from the past few days.

As he opened the door, the bright sunlight poured in and shone on his red clothes, making him look stunning.

There were no guests, no banquet in the yard, only a chubby guy sitting under the eaves, holding snacks and winking at Luo Jiao.

With a cold snort, Luo Jiao picked up his baggage and walked out of the gate. It was already late in the day, but there was no one at the gate of the courtyard.

Luo Jiao stood at the gate in his red clothes, carrying his baggage and staring straight at the the only intersection into the village.

After a while, a tall and burly figure came slowly towards Luo Jiao.

He wore a fur coat that couldn’t cover the muscles on his chest. Although he had a good build, his face was scarred, making him look very fierce.

“You’re so ugly,” Luo Jiao said mercilessly to the man who was two heads taller than him.

Chen Ba raised his eyebrows and looked at the petite Luo Jiao.

“You’re very handsome,” he said.

Luo Jiao was taken aback, then smiled charmingly, reaching out to touch Chen Ba’s chest, teasingly.

“But I’m just a broken person, a cheap slut who hooks up with men. Do you really want to marry someone like me?”

Chen Ba looked at Luo Jiao silently as his hand touched his chest playfully. After a long time, Luo Jiao withdrew his hand, unable to hold it any longer.

“I’m not joking with you. This is the reality of my life. I’m still fooling around even after getting married,” Luo Jiao said, self-mockingly looking at his red clothes. “You have the right to know these things before making a decision.”

After a long time, Chen Ba finally spoke.

He walked over to Luo Jiao and said, “Let’s go.”

Luo Jiao looked up at Chen Ba and asked, “Where to?”

Chen Ba chuckled in response, causing Luo Jiao to become frustrated and angry at him.

“Home,” Chen Ba said as he took the bags from Luo Jiao’s hand and held his hand to lead him in the direction they came.

Three hours later, except for the first hour and a half when Luo Jiao insisted on walking, Chen Ba carried him all the way home.

It was now the afternoon, and Luo Jiao tugged at his disheveled red clothes while looking at the bamboo house in front of him and Chen Ba, who was boiling water next to him.

“Hey!” Luo Jiao called out, feeling uneasy.

Chen Ba turned his head towards him.

Luo Jiao suddenly felt that Chen Ba wasn’t as unattractive as he thought.

“You left early this morning. Are you hungry?” Chen Ba asked.

Luo Jiao touched his empty stomach, realizing he hadn’t eaten properly in two days and had walked for an hour today.

“Yes, I am,” Luo Jiao replied honestly.

Chen Ba stood up and scooped up hot water from the pot, taking it to a small room next to the kitchen.

“You go wash up first, and I’ll cook,” Chen Ba said.

Luo Jiao was taken aback, but still took the clean clothes and went to freshen up. He was covered in sweat and felt uncomfortable.

Chen Ba lived alone and was terrible at cooking.

Luo Jiao chewed on the tough meat, unable to swallow it.

Seeing Luo Jiao like this, Chen Ba stood up, grabbed a handful of flour, and made two pancakes, placing them in front of Luo Jiao. He then took Luo Jiao’s uneaten food and started eating it himself.

Luo Jiao looked at the steaming pancakes in front of him, then at Chen Ba munching away, and didn’t move.

“Eat it, or you’ll have no energy tonight,” Chen Ba said.

He spoke vulgarly, but still urged Luo Jiao to eat.

Luo Jiao’s face inexplicably turned hot. He looked at Chen Ba’s strong body and felt even hotter himself. He quickly lowered his head to eat the pastry.

In the instant Luo Jiao lowered him head, Chen Ba lifted his head and looked at him for a while. A smile flashed in his eyes.

As Chen Ba had said, Luo Jiao had no strength at all at night, but the man on top of him did not seem to have any intention of letting him go.

He was like a hungry wolf, tossing and turning Luo Jiao several times until the sky began to lighten before finally letting him go.

Luo Jiao couldn’t even lift a finger.

Hearing the sound of the door closing while in a daze, Luo Jiao finally breathed a sigh of relief and fell asleep heavily.

After making the pastries and letting them steam in the pot, Chen Ba began to wash the red clothes that Luo Jiao had changed out of yesterday.

As he washed, he couldn’t help but smile. Luo Jiao didn’t remember him at all, but after all these years, he had ultimately gotten Luo Jiao.

Chen Ba was an orphan and had always eaten food given by other villagers when he was young. This family gave him a little, and that family gave him a little.

But because of this, he was looked down upon by the children in the village and was often bullied by them.

One time, he was beaten and his nose was bleeding. He scratched his messy hair and walked shakil with his injured legs.

“You’re bleeding, don’t walk anymore.”

A soft voice penetrated Chen Ba’s ears, and he sniffled, turning his head to see the pretty little Luo Jiao, who looked like a doll.

Chen Ba remembered how embarrassed he must have looked in front of such a delicate person, and his face turned red in an instant. His eyes also began to heat up, and he felt so ashamed.

Little Luo Jiao walked up to the sad little Chen Ba and carefully wiped the blood from his nose with the handkerchief he had taken out of him pocket. Then he wiped the blood from his injured leg.

“If they beat you again, you should fight back!”

Little Luo Jiao taught Little Chen Ba in a bossy manner, and Little Chen Ba nodded blankly.

“Thank you.”

Little Luo Jiao smiled his small white teeth, and that smile entered Little Chen Ba’s heart and could never be erased.

But later, the beautiful Luo Ama, just like Little Luo Jiao, passed away. Little Chen Ba hid in the corner of the crowd, watching the sad and desperate Little Luo Jiao crying.

He secretly vowed to grow up quickly and protect Little Luo Jiao.

So after that day, Little Chen Ba went to play with Little Luo Jiao every day, but Little Luo Jiao never showed the same smile as that day. He was always guarded against others, like a little wolf ready to counterattack at any time.

A month later, Little Luo Jiao and Little Chen Ba witnessed that Father Luo bringing back a pregnant ger.

“I tell you, I will never like a man in the future! I will not be like my mother, who stuck to a stinky man for a lifetime!”

Little Luo Jiao’s eyes were teary as he made a vow to the somewhat naive Little Chen Ba.

One day, the village lost something, and the adults all turned their suspicious eyes to Little Chen Ba, even saying that they would send him to the yamen.

Little Chen Ba did not steal anything, but the village head did not listen and had a stern face.

So, afraid of going to the government and not being able to see Little Luo Jiao again, Little Chen Ba ran away one night without saying goodbye to little Luo Jiao.

Chen Ba looked at the scars reflected in the water. That was the night when he ran into the mountains and was scratched by a wild animal. Fortunately, he was saved by his foster father, otherwise…

He was scared to see Little Luo Jiao with his scarred face that he himself was even afraid of. But he could not restrain his love for Luo Jiao. So he always tried to sneak a peek at Luo Jiao in the dark when he went down the mountain to sell game.

It wasn’t until Luo Jiao married Zhang Ming, who really seemed to love Luo Jiao, that Chen Ba felt relieved but also heartbroken. He returned to the mountain and never went to spy on Luo Jiao again.

It wasn’t until a few days ago when Chen Ba was selling game in town that he heard Luo Ama complaining about Luo Jiao to others, and Chen Ba finally knew everything about him.

Luo Jiao wasn’t bad. He just didn’t want to trust others and didn’t want to be played. He wanted to play with others himself. Chen Ba was even pleasantly surprised to hear this news. So, he had someone come to the Luo family’s door to propose, even if Luo Jiao didn’t want to marry him, he was willing to protect him from the shadows.

But Luo Jiao agreed. Chen Ba looked at his beloved sleeping on the bed. He felt satisfied and couldn’t stop smiling.

“I will protect you by your side for the rest of my life, as long as you don’t leave me.”

Author’s note: The story is complete, and after much consideration, I decided to write this extra chapter featuring these three characters.

As a novice writer, there are many shortcomings in my writing, but I am grateful to have such lovely readers. Thank you for your tolerance and support!

Looking back, I realize that I even wrote “knock knock knock” for the sound of knocking, which is really embarrassing. About the “marrying in” trope, the silly author is crying again…

And about Li Changfeng’s cunning and sly nature, the silly author is already crying and feeling overwhelmed…

There are so many inside jokes… the silly author is too embarrassed to say them all…

But!!!

Thank you so much to all the lovely, beautiful, elegant, and smart little angels who have tolerated the silly author, and who are sure to pass all their exams and be happy every day!

The silly author will slowly improve!

Love you all, kisses!

Thingyan: It’s a wrap everybody. Thank you so much for reading, commenting, and supporting me in every other way possible.

On to the next one. See you there, hopefully (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

    Hi translator san,

thank you for doing such a great job. I enjoyed the story a lot. I wish you the best of luck with your graduate medical program. I am looking forward to more translations from you when you have time and motivation.

I think the ML was angry at his parents from the beginning. He felt his brother taunted him with his letter about the marriage to MLs fiancee but he forgave him. In the end his brother even wanted to push him out of the family. His parents took a long time until the father said, he would not push him out. So his brother pushed him into the military service for him, took his fiancee, tried to push him out of the family and the parents still did not take MLs side. The way he left, let his brother look like a villain. That is how MC understood, that ML was black bellied. ML gave his parents several chances but every time he said something they did not want to hear, they got angry at him and ML lost his patience with them more and more and probably lost the last bit of hope.

I translate two other novels and sometimes I forgot what happened in which novel lol. A few readers pointed out the old Li couples deeds to me to refresh my memory and I felt it was totally justifiable what ML did

Aiiii I really wanted to translate another novel like this. The other two translators on our site said they’d help. So, we started working on a new novel like ugly ger and was gonna upload the first 10 chapters in one go but then, coincidently, another translator started translating that novel. Very heartbroken. Now it would look petty to upload all those chapters while the other translator only uploaded two. Sad :'(

      1. Hm.
Since you already started translating, you can still upload them. (Go and upload them NOW! I wanna read! Give! WANT!!! YANYAN *squeaks*)

If you’re unsure, you can try to contact the other translator and talk with them. Otherwise, you can also try the stealth-method and put that novel under password protection, so it won’t show up un NU.
That way, only people who are running around here will see that novel….

        *stares at Yanyan*
you know.. you’re quite naughty. whetting my appetite like that.. tsk.
*sets up camp right at the entrance of Hololo, waiting for the new novel to show up*

      2. Thingyan says:

Lol that translator is steadily uploading chapters so itd be just best to read theirs to have consistency 😁

  6. PeachesNotBlossoms says:

That’s all? Weren’t we supposed to know more about the “origin” between MC and ML??
    Thanks though

    1. Thingyan says:

Lol I don’t know about the author but I forgot about that origin thing if it wasn’t for your comment. I think the author simply forgot, like me 😅

      1. Queue says:

You’re talking out the elder’s prediction right?
I think ‘origin’ might be similar to ‘touchstone’, as in something to remind the MC that there is something worth fighting for in this world. JMHO

  7. Queue says:

Finished! Thank you translator for sticking with it, and caring about the readers
    Onto the next story.

  8. ahgaeshi says:

    The end already? 😭

Thank you Thingyan-san for translating this novel. Thank you for your hard work! It was a good light read and I like it very much!

  9. Bng says:

    Thanks for your translation.
Why do I feel like some scenes were left out? I’ve read the raws before, that was a long time ago. I was that this was completely translated so I read it. I thought Xu Qing confronted Chen Hong. And Zhou Wen also confronted Chen Hong that he knew CH like the ML but ZW thought that since he married CH he should move on or something like that. Or maybe I remembered it wrong.

  10. Hope says:

Ok. 1st wanted to thank translator for taking their time translating this novel and doing a wonderful job at it as well. Thanks 😊
2nd, wanted to comment my opinion on the novel. I have to say the fact that the Author made the MC more “average” resonated more with me? His life was very mediocre in an easy way? No business empire that usually includes restaurants, etc. Barely any farming though? No traveling, no conspiracies or political issues. Very blend. Which can be how it is really for a lot of people. It just showed that not every story needs the usual “transmigrating” tropes.
Now the questionable parts of the novel that I can’t get over with…MC basically escaped a zombie apocalypse with a space cheat. He only had little bit of food in the space AFTER transferring some to the other space user?? No clothes or weapon? I don’t mean guns but axes, baseball bats, crowbar, rebar steel, knives or SOMETHING that can be used as a weapon. Nothing at all? How did he protect himself?? Which brings it that he STILL didn’t bring himself to store some kind of weapon in his space as a backup for any possible dangers. Hello? Bandits? Wildlife?
I would reluctantly accept that since he saw himself in a non-apocalyptic environment that he basically let go of his vigilance and didn’t think he needs to be prepared, BUT!! The Author had gone and written about a WOMAN PHYSICALLY appearing in a world that did NOT have this gender! (Really feel bad for that poor woman) What did the MC do? Absolutely NOTHING! I am not saying he goes save her or something. I meant that he didn’t consider the negative ramifications of her PHYSICALLY appearing in that world? Didn’t he wonder if she came from the SAME world as him? If she did, would there be a possibility of an infected person crossing over? Imagine, a zombie or an infected person appearing somewhere and the apocalypse happens there? What was the reason the virus appeared in HIS world? Is it possible someone/something crossed over to HIS world with the virus?
Others would wonder what he could do? Well, he could talk to his husband about the worry and on the off chance the worst happens, how to handle a Zombie – this will minimize the chance of getting infected because they thought the zombie was dead when damaging anything besides the head…Maybe find a way to convey this info (about the infection) to their Doctor friend. The Doctor would be one of the 1st to hear of any rumors about unusual infections. This will also prevent them from going up to the infected to help thinking they are still alive, etc. and getting bitten/scratched. At the very least the husband should know? After all, he already knows about the space and accepts him. Just saying that I would not be at ease without some kind of planning!
