Chapter 154 (Part 1): The Culinary Tycoon Feb 21 2024July 6, 2023 Little Steamed Bun is Born By the end of April, Chang Hao finally experienced the fetal movements of his nephew as he had hoped. He watched in amazement as the little bundle was pushed up by tiny feet, and he felt a sensation of being kicked in the palm of his hand. “Wow, baby, you’re so strong!” Chang Hao exclaimed in surprise, pulling his hand away to look at his palm. Then he turned his head and said, “Brother, Baobao just kicked me!” Saying that, he excitedly placed his hand back on the belly. Chang Le smiled and nodded gently. During this period, the baby was very active, especially when Yu Qingze and Chang Hao spoke to him. The movements were particularly vigorous, as if the baby had truly remembered their voices. Whenever they approached and spoke to him, if he was not asleep, he would make a movement. Even through a layer of clothing, Jiabao also saw Chang Le’s abdomen move slightly, forming a small bulge from the kicks. He opened his eyes wide and watched, feeling amazed. Chang Le waved at him, and Jiabao walked over. Chang Le gestured to him, “Do you want to touch him?” For the past two months, Jiabao had been eagerly watching Chang Hao interact with the little baby, filled with envy. This longing gaze did not escape Chang Le’s eyes. Upon hearing that, Jiabao’s eyes lit up, and he stuttered, “C-can I?” Chang Le nodded, took his wrist, and placed it where the baby was moving, allowing him to feel the magic of the little life. At that moment, the baby kicked again, and Jiabao felt a powerful hit under his palm. It was really moving! “Did he kick you?” Chang Hao asked. Jiabao nodded blankly, “It’s amazing.” Yu Qingze looked at the three of them and smiled, “He will definitely be mischievous when he’s born.” Chang Hao said, “Mischievous is good. I’ll play with him.” “I’m afraid you’ll get tired of it,” Yu Qingze shook his head. Chang Hao also shook his head and then said seriously, “I won’t! Little uncle is not useless!” Everyone laughed as they looked at him. As the baby grew, Chang Le’s body became heavier, and because of the fetal movements, he didn’t sleep very well at night. After a while, he would feel tired and need rest. Translated on ho lo lo novels dot com. As Brother Chang is now in the late stage of pregnancy and approaching delivery, he has been staying at home for childbirth. Chang Le goes to the Xue residence every day to accompany him. Chang Le isn’t very nervous, but the four men in the family are even more anxious. Every day, someone must accompany Chang Le to the Xue residence and bring him back. On May 16th, Brother Chang gave birth to a baby boy in the evening. Chang Le and the others only found out when they received the red packets from the Xue residence the next day. Chang Le immediately brought gifts to visit, accompanied by Yu Qingze. Naturally, Yu Qingze couldn’t enter the room and had to wait outside, with Xue Baizhu keeping him company. Although there were dark circles under Xue Baizhu’s eyes, he couldn’t hide the joy on his face. Yu Qingze smiled and said, “Did you not sleep well last night? You don’t have to accompany me. Go rest and take good care of Brother Chang and the baby after getting a good night’s sleep.” Xue Baizhu shook his head and smiled, “It’s okay, I can’t sleep now anyway.” Yu Qingze then asked, “Has the baby been given a name?” “He has been given a name,” Xue Baizhu nodded and said, “His name is Xue Muhua.” “Muhua?” Xue Baizhu nodded and said, “It’s a type of flower, and also a medicinal herb that clears heat and cools the blood. My father chose it.” “… ” Yu Qingze paused for a moment and then said, “It’s very fitting, a distinctive choice for your family.” Xue Baizhu’s eldest brother is named Xue Huangqi, and his second brother is named Xue Chenxiang. Baizhu, Huangqi, and Chenxiang are all names of medicinal herbs. Even his elder brother’s children are named after medicinal herbs. Xue Baizhu nodded helplessly and whispered, “Brother Yu, you don’t know, originally there were two more names. My father gave us three names to choose from: Xue Hongshen, Xue Chishao, and Xue Muhua. I felt that Muhua sounded better, so we went with that, and Brother Chang agreed too.” (T/N: Hongshen = Red ginger; Chishao = Red Peony Root) Upon hearing this, Yu Qingze couldn’t help but laugh and cry. Fortunately, Muhua does sound nice. If they had chosen some other less pleasant-sounding medicinal herb name, who knows if the baby would complain when they grow up. Xue Baizhu asked, “Brother Yu, have you given a name to your baby?” Yu Qingze shook his head and said, “Not yet. Everyone in the family has come up with several names, each thinking their own choice sounds the best. We haven’t decided whose name to use.” Because of the baby’s name, they had several family meetings. No one could convince anyone else, so in the end, Yu Qingze waved his hand and said, “Let the baby decide when they’re older! We’ll draw lots!” Finally, they reached a unanimous agreement. Since the baby would choose their own name, they would let them have whatever name they picked. After about half an hour, Chang Le finished visiting the baby, and they bid farewell and returned to the restaurant. On the way, Chang Le gestured to Yu Qingze, expressing how adorable the tiny and soft baby was, with a face full of joy and anticipation. “When our baby is born, they will be adorable too,” Yu Qingze said. Chang Le happily nodded in agreement. After the nine months of pregnancy, Yu Qingze no longer let Chang Le go to the restaurant. He handed over the restaurant to Jiabao, Da Song, and Da Zhi, and stayed at home to accompany Chang Le. After more than a year of learning, Da Song and Da Zhi had mastered their culinary skills. They could now prepare the dishes on the menu exceptionally well and manage the kitchen. They had all the necessary things for childbirth and had arranged for people to take care of Chang Le during his confinement period. They were just waiting for the baby to be born so that they could come over immediately. Everything was ready, and they were awaiting the arrival of the baby. On the morning of July 8th, as Chang Le finished breakfast and got up, Yu Qingze accompanied him for a walk in the yard to aid digestion. In the yard, Grandpa Chang had planted two long rows of tomatoes along the walls. It was the season when tomatoes were ripe, and the red, round tomatoes hung from the branches, looking particularly beautiful. Chang Le slightly bent down, wanting to pick one, but suddenly felt a pain in his abdomen. He clutched his stomach with one hand, furrowing his brows, and quickly grabbed onto Yu Qingze’s arm with his other hand. “What’s wrong? Is your stomach hurting?” Yu Qingze asked anxiously. Chang Le nodded. “Are you going into labor? Let me carry you back to the room,” Yu Qingze swiftly picked up Chang Le and returned to the room, calling out, “Grandpa, Grandpa,” as he walked. “What’s happening? Is it time for the baby to be born?” Grandpa Chang came out of the kitchen and saw Yu Qingze carrying Chang Le into the room. He quickly asked. Placing Chang Le on the bed, Yu Qingze then asked him, “How are you feeling? Should I go and call the midwife?” Yu Qingze had no experience in this matter. He only knew that early labor pains could be intense and would last for a while, but he was unsure. Fortunately, the midwife’s house was not far from theirs, so he could have the midwife check on Chang Le first, and then he would go and call Dr. Ye. “Is it time for the baby to be born?” Grandpa Chang followed them anxiously. Yu Qingze shook his head and said, “I don’t know, Brother Le suddenly had abdominal pain. It might be time for the baby to be born. Grandpa, I’ll go and call the midwife first. Please look after Brother Le.” Saying that, Yu Qingze ran out. “Hey, Aze, not so fast!” Grandpa Chang called out, but Yu Qingze had already run out. Grandpa Chang shook his head, entered the room, and sat on the edge of the bed, asking Chang Le, “Xiao Le, is the pain still there?” Chang Le nodded, his brow furrowed tightly. “Don’t worry, Aze has gone to call the midwife. You might still have to endure the pain for a while. When your mother gave birth to you all, he also had to endure the pain for a long time before giving birth,” Grandpa Chang said, unable to do much to help, but trying to distract Chang Le by chatting with him and wiping his sweat. Chang Le nodded in response. After a while, the pain in his abdomen eased a bit, and he sighed in relief. The pre-labor contractions had been explained to him by Dr. Ye and Brother Chang. He knew that it would take some more time before he could give birth. Not long after, the midwife arrived. After inquiring about the situation, he said, “It’s alright, there’s still some time. You should go and bring Dr. Ye here. Boss Yu, you mentioned that there’s a ger who understands your wife’s gestures, right?” 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 Previous TOC Next Share this post? ♡ Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Like this:Like Loading...
